Here’s my thoughts on it and what I liked.

  • I really like the cute theme of the game.
  • I found the game easy to understand and pick up, I did not find anything frustrating, the aim and goals are straight forward and easy to understand.
  • Game runs smoothly with no technical problems for me.
  • The length of days feels about right, I do like the idea of short missions as well.
  • Overall, I did enjoy playing this game.

Here’s my feedback

  • Resource abundance on some of the levels towards the start, I could just build a rocket very quickly on the first day then launch, likely was not intended by developers.
  • I don’t really feel much threat during the nights, 1-3 warriors was enough to defend my colony and I didn’t really need walls, towers and so on, the overall difficulty is on the easier side.
  • I think it would be nice to manually select workers then place them somewhere, rather than purely having them move by assigning workers to structures, resources or the rocket.
  • I think an improved win screen would be nice, maybe SFX or music for it, the game seems to keep on going in the background and you can see all the carrots etc on the screen.
  •

Perhaps there could be stuff to look around for on the map? Maybe a fog of war and you can uncover the map? I think it would be interesting for warrior bunnies to have something to do during the day, or maybe they are sleeping during the day? It does feel unusual how warriors are always there 24/7 with no rest. These are just ideas I'm thinking of.

I have attached the playthrough for it from start to finish (just the gameplay no talking).

Thank you for your feedback, especially with the playthrough it's very useful.

I do have a question actually if you could also provide this.

What CPU and GPU are you using?

I only had two devices to use when testing this (Ryzen 4600 and Ryzen 3600 CPU, 1650 and 3070Ti GPU) and only seen some playtests people have given me, so not seen comparably how it performs on other devices with the specifications much. I believe the clipping issue is due to the low frame rate, so this is something I'll have to look at on the physics side of things and other settings to try stop this (ideally the frame rate I need to heavily optimise, especially in the recreational area which seems to have the worst performance issues). I'll have to lock the performance on my machines to try tweak it to work on more devices. :)

As for the mission and objective, I agree it seems it's too confusing. My original idea was trying to balance between not handholding too much but also not making the player get too lost, but from the more recent testing it seems to fall more into the player getting too lost and confused (especially in the Recreational Area the last area you were in) so I will need to work on making the objective more clear.

I will give your game a play next in the next few days and give feedback. :)

Thank you for the feedback and for playing the game.

I will address the stuck and bump issues in the next patch as it should be easily fixable with some adjustments to the player's colliders. As for the flares and rockets restocking I agree this is a cause of annoyance especially with the rockets as you need to backtrack to restock them, I will also address this issue in the next patch.

Hopefully I can get the patch out quite soon to address the above as well as fix some minor issues I have discovered in the past few days.

Thank you for the feedback, should hopefully either be a continuation of this project or a new project in the future. :)

Hello! I have released the prototype of the game I have been developing.

Proximity Threat is a six-degrees of freedom (6DOF) action-adventure game where you explore a futuristic base using a Drone. I was inspired by other 6DOF games and 3D Metroidvania games when I created this prototype.

6DOF means that you have full freedom of movement, you can also rotate and move vertically on top of the standard forwards/backwards/left/right, look up/down and look left/right.

There is 15-30 minutes of gameplay in this demonstration, the game features gamepad support, a full six-degrees of movement, objects you can scan and retrieve information from in the environment, a full 3D map, a locking system, a fully backtrackable map, a checkpoint system in the form of Drone Printers, an instruction manual PDF as well as a boss fight at the end of the map.

I am testing the viability of this prototype for potentially creating a full game.

Another tactic I have seen is these hackers would message people on other social media websites (Discord being a common one which I have seen this on) saying that they have just made a game they would like you to play and give feedback on, sometimes these Discord accounts are hacked accounts, sometimes it will be a friend of someone they have hacked which will ask them to play their game which helps the fake game look more legitimate and more trustworthy to download.

I believe the malware with this tactic typically targets Discord accounts instead of Itch accounts, although it could indeed target a lot more, either way it is another tactic to watch out for.

The thread below actually gives a lot more detail on this scam:

Please post constructive feedback here.

Just remember this is a prototype as described in the description so please focus on gameplay aspects and theming for feedback, the prototype is focused on testing the gameplay aspects of the game and its viability for further production.

About the project

I've made a 30 minute long prototype for a six-degrees of freedom (6DOF) action-adventure game, I was inspired by other 6DOF games and some 3D Metroidvania games when creating this. Unlike the majority of other 6DOF games I did not go a FPS approach to it (there is some combat but there is more of an exploration/adventure focus). The game is Windows only at the moment, if I did full production on the project I will port to OSX and Linux. 6DOF means that you can move in 6 degrees of axis: pitch, yaw, roll, forwards/backwards, up/down, left/right.

Concept

You control a drone (EDO-72) through a base in the future, you can scan objects in the environment to gather more information. Progression is Metroidvania-like, you obtain items to unlock new routes and further explore the environment.

Feedback

I am looking specifically for feedback on the gameplay and  design.

As it is a prototype, I have not focused on the art or sound as I've not budgeted for this at this stage so I'm not looking for feedback on this (I am aware there is a lot of work that can be done on it if I fully developed it), I am also aware the AI can be improved but it is not a main focus on the prototype stage.

I am looking for feedback on the gameplay itself and whether it is a viable and fun concept.

Interesting concepts, do you plan to develop this further?

If any major bugs occur please post in this thread.

Major bugs mean bugs that cause game breaking issues such as being stuck, game freezing, impossible progression, game crashing.
