As this game follows the spirit of the original, there is no romancing in this one either. But you may want to follow us for news, because there may or may not be romancing in an unannounced project we're currently working on...
Concerning Dreamwalker, you can always play the free demo to find out whether you like it :)

To be a bit more precise: Dreamwalker is a standalone prequel to Tavern Talk with many improvements and, of course, a new setting, and an entirely new story with around 16 hours on your first playthrough with multiple endings and narrative branching on top.
If you want to, you could call it Tavern Talk 2 - and maybe we should have done that :D

Hi Moni,
There indeed is an alternative to "clicking madly" :D - the game features an auto-progression mode that lets the text flow automatically. You can adjust the reading speed as well. If you want to replay some sections in order to explore new branches of the story, there is also an auto-skip mode that fast forwards through sections you've already seen. Hope this helps :)
Concerning the resolution bit, I've checked with tech, and they assume it could be a proton thing since the switch version was designed to run in 720p, and that does sound good. They suggested you play around with resolutions to see if sth looks better on your system.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Michel
If you want to bridge the time, have a look at the demo of the prequel we just released some days ago: https://gentle-troll.itch.io/tavern-talk-stories-dreamwalker
Hey, sorry for the late reply. Very happy to hear you enjoyed the demo so much and sorry we've been so quiet here lately.
Handling the various platforms is a lot to handle for a small (self-publishing) indie team such as ourselves so we simply didn't have the capacity to tend to all opportunities.
Happy to let you know that we're now taking a closer look at itch now especially since we do have quite a bit of TTRPG related content to share alongside the game. Expect some news soon!
Cheers,
Michel
Hi MalkavinElder,
indeed, while Coffee Talk was one of our great inspirations to create this game, we are not affiliated with Fami or the reast of the dev team behind that gem of a game in any way. We've met the Toge Productions team at Gamescom back in 2023 – a super exciting moment for us – and ended up bundling Tavern Talk with Coffee Talk Episode 2 over on Steam. Such an honor to receive this kind of support from of one of our greatest icons. <3
You can already buy the Tavern Talk on Steam and Switch BTW but we are currently looking at the potential of itch again, so expect some updates here soon. :)
Cheers,
Michel
Hey Sissix, so happy to read this and sorry for the late reply. We've been super busy working on the standalone prequel, Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker, which you can already wishlist on Steam and follow its Kickstarter campaign to unlock pre-campaign achievements!
And you might be excited to hear that we've picked up working on our strategy for itch.io again. We see there is a strong visual novel and TTRPG community here we'd love to engage with more. There will be more updates and exciting news coming soon so keep your eyes peeled!
Cheers,
Michel
Thank you so much for your detailed response! I'll make sure to let the team know 💜but I also wanted to let you know that the demo currently available is not the final version of the game (and especially the text), we have somebody on hand who does an English editorial for the final version of the Game. The quality of the writing and the game overall is essential to us.😊
Cheers,
Tommy
Hey Jellyfish, that sounds so lovely that you are playing the Game with your daughter 💜 if you have questions or suggestions we would love to hear them! We have a discord server and channel for this reason if you want you can join there: https://discord.gg/dcRbYHWHMs 😊
Hey Kenneth,
I understand your concern, but since we are a small indie studio we are trying a lot of things out and this preorder shop is just one way to support us and the game in the end. That doesn't mean we will only release it on Steam or the Nintendo E-Shop and are also looking into other revenues. But if you want to support us before the release, in advance so to speak, this is a possibility.
Also some of the Bundles, like the Lore bundle or the TTRPG bundle which doesn't contain the main game, but a lot of cool DRM-Free digital goodies, which could be worth checking out.
I hope that makes it a bit clearer. Cheers,
Tommy
Oh that shouldn't be happening. Maybe you wanna send us a bug report ( with screenshots if possible and your gaming set up) in our discord: https://discord.gg/4xNmCAbRk9
