Nine to Wonderland: Card Duel RPG

(2 edits)

Play it for free in the browser: https://hamurapa.itch.io/nine-to-wonderland-card-duel-rpg

It's a head-to-head duel on a normal 52-card deck. Every card you play is an attack - number cards strike or heal, face cards burn mana out of your opponent's pool. Play one card, or chain a pair, a flush, a run: the bigger the combination, the harder it hits.

Mana is the tension. The small, weak cards mint the most of it, so you're always trading a hit now against fuel for a bigger one later. There are four spells to spend it on, and each match rolls one battlefield hex — poison, chain lightning, a heal bloom, a hand-freeze - onto a few enchanted cards, and it fires for both sides.

Modes: PvE campaign with gear and loot, endless gauntlet, hotseat on one screen, and online 1v1 (invite a friend by link, or get matched with a stranger). No signup, no install, works on mobile too.

Built solo in Phaser + TypeScript over the last few months. Happy to answer anything about the game or the implementation and if the first match doesn't teach itself, tell me exactly where you got lost, that's the feedback I can't get from the inside.

A mouse click or Press Spacebar - no jumps at all :(

Doesn't the game work without an internet connection?
