Definitely a really cool concept. However, I feel as though there was a slight lack of cohesion and polish that the game could've benefited a lot from. Still though, congratulations on the submission!

Hi thank you so much for your kind words!
The department store seems to be a relatively common point of confusion. We didn't have time to draw the clerk which probably is a contributor. However, you're just supposed to interact through the window on the left of the door.
The camera bug is known. however, I haven't yet implemented a solution for it. It all stems from the camera system using a stack, and when dialogue is entered, it will add a new position to the stack. However, if the dialogue is interrupted before it ends, that position stays in the stack so after the classroom scene it will go back to whatever conversation you were in.
Oh I see.
I won't give away too much but... Don't go straight to class. There's a reason why you get to control movement at that part.
I don't have a video playthrough as of yet. It would also be spoilers to show as it would show puzzle solutions.
My team mate was added as a collaborator earlier today.
Thank you!!
I personally don't think the 5 minute countdown was all too bad. As you said, if you know what you were doing it'll work out. This game Requires you to learn how to optimize over a couple attempts in order to make it in time. In a bit of testing I had found that you're still able to reach the "true" ending even with failing a whole minigame which I decided was enough leeway. However, I do still understand your point and that yeah it could be a bit frustrating to get so close but still fail.
I did want a sense of ambiguity on what the players were supposed to do as they were supposed to piece it together over multiple attempts, so I didn't want the game to explain much. However, I will admit that it was supposed to be a bit more clear as I wanted to implement a kind of indicator when you can talk/interact with something. It is probably a bit unclear without it, but I just didn't have time unfortunately.
Yeah, I think music could've been great, but we wanted to keep this game jam as just people we know, and we don't really know many musicians. Maybe we'll try for one another time!
Thank you for playing through our game and leaving a kind comment!
Thank you so much for taking the time to play and leave a review! The story progression is a bit of a puzzle that you're supposed to piece together over multiple tries by completing miniature "quests" with each of the students and optimizing a route to get it all done in time. You're also supposed to think a bit differently in the fact that you're not looking to "win", you're looking for the option that wastes the most time. Also, I'm sorry about the game crash, unfortunately there are definitely a couple bugs that we were unable to iron out.
Thank you for the compliment on the art. My teammate (the artist) did an amazing job with it and I couldn't be happier, and yeah, he insisted on having a parallaxing main menu.
Yeah, the camera does have some issues that I weren't able to iron out in time.
Thanks for telling me about these bugs, here's what I can say on them:
- The spacebar pressing dialogue options automatically is a bit of the problem. I could've maybe added a bit of a delay timer before options could be pressed, but I feel that would also be a bit annoying because it would replace an optional wait (simply going through the dialogue slower) with a forced wait (replying.)
- Yeah the crash is an issue. If you don't mind, could you tell me the conditions of how it happened?
- That is definitely a bug and one that is known. The menus and everything is the game gets handled by preloads. However, for some reason I couldn't preload to main menu again after loading into one of the sub menus. I spent a bit of time trying to fix it until deciding itprobably wasn't big enough of an issue to spend that much time on.
Thank you for your long reply!
I like the interpretation of the countdown in how it's both used in the gameplay and I guess more of a meta sense? I think the narrative is really good in general, I really connected with it. Also just, the art is just really good. I'd like to see what you guys make next! Also, if you'd be willing to let me shill a bit, this game really reminded me of my team's game with the visual-novel aspects in a kind of academic setting. I would really love if you'd try it out!
I liked what this game was going for. The music elements remind me of Hi-Fi rush and Dead as Disco, which I love. This definitely feels like an ambitious project, but some bugs and lack of polish in some areas did somewhat hamper my enjoyment. Nevertheless, really impressive to put together in four days! Congrats!
The art is really good. I like the idea of the gameplay, but it admittedly needs some refinement. There doesn't really seem to be enough time to react to incoming enemies and the best strategy seemed to just be to spam click which kind of sucked. But with a bit of work I think the game could be really cool!
