Thank you so much! I’m really happy to hear you had such a great time with it. Reading that it created a story you loved is exactly what I hoped for when I made it.

There’s also an ambient soundtrack called Recordings // 001, made to accompany the game. If you ever return for another transmission, give it a try.

Thanks again for playing and for leaving such a lovely comment. It really means a lot to me.

I released a small solo journaling game today called The Ninefold Chronicles.

It is an A4 trifold game about a village surrounded by nine places that nobody is supposed to visit.

Once a year, someone goes anyway. They take the village’s only map, visit all nine locations, and write down what they notice. When they return, their page is placed in an old wooden chest together with ninety years of earlier chronicles.

Many of those records mention the same mysterious woman, but I deliberately did not want to turn this into a mystery-solving game. There is no final answer you are expected to uncover.

The game is more about observation, memory, and the way different people can describe the same place differently.

Mechanically, it is very small: you only need a d6 and something to write with. At each location, you roll for an observation, choose an additional detail, and write one or two sentences. A full game takes around 20–30 minutes.

The line that guided me while making it was:
Explain nothing. Record what you notice.

The game is available here: https://jarkaz.itch.io/the-ninefold-chronicles

It costs $5, and I also added 20 Community Copies for anyone who would like to play but cannot comfortably afford it right now.
I’d be interested to hear what kind of chronicle people end up creating, especially how differently the nine places are interpreted.

Thanks for taking a look.

Hi, Vielen Dank für den Kauf! Eine deutsche Version ist in Arbeit und sollte in ein paar Tagen online sein. :) Ich informiere dann per Devlog.

Thanks for asking! There isn’t an official physical edition at the moment, but I still have a few physical copies left from a small promotional print run. If you’re interested, please message me on Instagram at @jarkaz.games, and I’ll see what I can arrange!

The expansion will be available within the next 1–3 days. Just a little more patience. 🙂

Thanks for the feedback! I will fix the layout for the next version. The v07-version will be dedicated to you. :)

Great idea with the game board! I didn't even have that on my radar. It fits GDAAL really well.

Pg 6: in the reward table on the left 1-2 should be 1d6 gold + key

Thanks for pointing that out! I'll make sure to fix it in the next version.

Pg 10: Event table result 9-10 is a locked chest. It says you can unlock with a successful dex check. However, on pg 52 it states you can’t open a chest unless you have a key. I assumed for the specific event only I could do the dex test.

That is correct. This specific event acts as an exception to the general rule.

Pg. 30: Event table entry 12. I think the effect should be 3 soul shards instead of soul splinters. Pg 52: In the stat block of the final boss I think “Schaden” should be “Damage”.

Thanks for the feedback! You have a great eye for detail.

Is the minimum damage for the player only? Based on pg 21 I assumed it was for the player’s attack only as I know for monsters a critical hit is not double damage. When I met the final boss I had 4 clues and was first level. So, he got 1d6+1 damage. If he rolled a total of 4 or less I gave myself 0 damage. Is that right or should it have been a minimum of 1?

Yes, that is correct. I suppose the boss simply swung and missed that time! I will make sure to include this in the official rules.

Hey!

Thanks for playing GDAAL! I’m happy to clear up those questions for you:

  • Regarding 1: No, you only receive XP when you actually defeat an enemy.
  • Regarding 2: No, you don't receive XP for this either. However, after successfully disarming a trap, you gain the opportunity to search the room.
  • Regarding 3: The "6+" appears to be a copy-paste error. There are no modifiers for this roll; it should simply trigger on a roll of 6.

Sounds like a good plan.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm very glad to hear that you have such a good first impression of the game.

Which languages would you like? All I can say is that a German version will be going live soon :)

In STATIC.137, you operate a modified radio in a world where all communication has ceased. This solo journaling role-playing game challenges you to listen to the atmospheric echoes of the past—fragments of conversations, memories, and data streams. Use a deck of cards and dice to tune in to these haunting transmissions, and weave them into a narrative that might just uncover the truth behind the global event. It's an introspective sandbox where you are not just playing a game, but preserving the last whispers of a vanished world.

Check it out here.

Thank you, that was the idea behind it.

Thanks for pointing out the translation errors. I'll be uploading an updated version in the coming days.

To answer your question: I've drawn inspiration from a wide variety of board game dungeon crawlers over the years. Specifically, the dungeon generation is based on the Dungeon Master's Guide (DMG) for Dungeons & Dragons as well as Paul Bimler's 5e Solo Gamebooks. I also played a lot of Four Against Darkness. As for the combat and character system, those are built upon drafts from a sci-fi role-playing game I developed many years ago.

Yeah, it's definitely a lot of fun! Hang in there during your first runs, sometimes they don't end so well. :)
