That was fun, I liked the animation when mining to the side. The music was very good and something I would aspire to be able to include something of the sort in a future game. Being able to include multiple audio tracks and have it all work together was great.

Really cool graphics and gameplay.  I like the store mechanic, I would have liked to include something in my game. Impressive to pull this off within the span of the jam. I also like that one of the screenshots included was your planning/notes, fun behind the scenes.

Really great background, it felt very continuous and fluid throughout the whole game. Fun to have a boss fight at the end, that felt like a different twist on a typical gameplay loop.

This was fun, I like games that are how good can you get at the game to rack up a high score. I especially liked the animation of the water as the boats moved around, that was cool. I don't know what other engines were used in games I've played so far in the jam, but it felt like unique to have it done in Unity.

This felt almost like a tower defense game, which was pretty fun. I liked the old timey flute like music. Great color choice to capture both the gold theme but also the fire nature of the dragon.

Right off the bat, I loved the use of the splash screen and the GameBoy buttons on the side. The screenshots for the game really caught my attention for that type of perspective and knew I wanted to play it. I liked the music, it felt very "GameBoy", and I really liked how the coin effect changed when you collected multiple coins in a row. The movement of the player was very fluid and smooth. And I like that it tracked your score with each play for a high score.

whoa congrats on the high score!

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for sharing your score. The highest score that’s been shared with me so far is 133. Good feedback still regarding the volume, it will help remind me to verify those audio settings with as much attention as some of the visual work done.

Thank you for that explanation, makes sense to me!

Excited to rate each other’s games. Seeing the rating period has opened and some people have been kind enough to rate my own game, but I couldn’t see what ratings were given other than comments provided. Are ratings viewable now or is it after the rating period ends? I see that the submission page can be sorted by ratings, so just curious how that works.

Thank you! I am now realizing that I never actually played it after submitting to see how the audio compares in browser versus in the dev software studio. Audio/music is definitely something I need to work on in general, as I typically don’t spend as much time on it as I do the visuals, and any time spent mixing/ensuring audio levels are manageable would go a long way.

Thank you! There are definitely some other game elements I would add if I worked more on this, such as mine cart movement, more ways to obtain gold (sifting in water, dynamite?), more animations for rocks breaking, etc. For the game jam I wanted to keep it simple in scope to ensure I could finish it in time.

The music was the last aspect that I worked on, so I could definitely see how enhancements could be made. I just looped 12 measures of a basic blues pattern that I played on a small electric keyboard so that I would have something playing in the background. I was going for the old timey player piano vibe but I don’t think that really came across, but it would be fun to fine tune that!
