The Sins of Omission is a narrative visual novel where you play the researcher for Cassie Lark, executive producer of the podcast True Crime, Wrong Story. Instead of solving the case with a gun or a twist, you build weekly research packs, case files, timelines, interview notes, that challenge a tidy “violent ex” story about Jeri Grenfell’s murder.
Across six episodes, you’ll:
- Track how caregiving, money, and a missing tape shape a homicide that was officially framed as “domestic violence.”
- Interview Jeri’s dying mother Jody, her son Austin, and Detective Shel Hooper, whose drunk hit‑and‑run overlaps the case.
- Build documents such as SURVEILLANCE_GAPS and AUSSIE_ALIBI that feed a real podcast season.
- Decide whether you can stand up dual motives (inheritance + fraud) well enough to survive Cassie, Legal, and Exec in a “gauntlet” week.
The game has two routes:
- A golden route, where the case is strong enough to air as a TCWS episode—and you see what that actually changes.
- A lesser route, where the ethical decision is to walk away without pretending certainty, and the file becomes a diagnostic instead of a broadcast.
If you’re tired of true‑crime stories that flatten complex cases into neat villains and heroes, this is a season about living inside the wrong story and trying to tell it better.
