Dog-nammit π€¦ - I didn't even think of that as a possible clue (very clever! π)

This was a lovely, thought-provoking (as always) entry π
Impressive that you managed to get 3+ really interesting stages in 1K!
...
β οΈ SPOILERS BELOW... β οΈ
...
Stage 2 took the longest (I ended up doing the whole "grid sweep" approach π
)
But got there eventually.
Sweet ending too.
Really well done! π
Very polished entry with a compelling mechanic! ππ
Alas, best I could manage was 23 π¬π
Thank you again for taking the time to submit to PICO-1K, Adam.
Honestly made my day, knowing the "jam" circle was complete π
(Now I regret not attempting that Gravity Hook 1K port I was toying with - maybe next year... π€π
)
This is SO good, Zep! π€©
The quality of the mechanics and playability in this tiny 1K entry are *very* impressive π€―
Found myself progressing, dying and repeating *several* times (very addictive!).
I also kinda love how this sits in perfectly alongside other procgen-driven games like LMS (in fact, I originally wanted the planet layer to be platform/side-on, but I have NO idea how to squeeze it in back in the day - you just proved it IS possible! π)
Superb entry (...and thx for taking part! π)
P.S. How do u enable the cool zoomed-out/map view!? π―
Awww... that's a lovely surprise - thank you very much, @Macario! π
It's been an absolute pleasure creating & running #Pico1k for the past 6 years.
Alas, I don't have as much free time as I used to - else I'd do more complex (+potentially multiple) entries. But I am very glad it still seems to be a popular jam (with this year is on course to be one of the biggest!).
So, I too am definitely taking part in the celebration (didn't even think of it that way) and also fully appreciate the support from everyone in the community along the way π
Here's to many more PICO-1K jams π₯³π
Are you referring to Itch.io's game page editor?
If so, I just use the (ΒΆ Format) > "Code" option from the toolbar of the main text editor.
If you mean within the actual jam submission form?
Then I don't think that's possible, as it's a simple multi-line text box - so it'll just show the raw text.
(Which is fine, as it's intended for me/others to be able to copy + paste your code to verify the entry, if needed)
Hope this helps π€
This is brilliant.
Not only did u squeeze a ton of functionality into 1K.
But it's also a really helpful tool π
I did take a quick peek at the code, but still absolutely no idea how it works! π
Thx for creating such a useful entry, nice one! π
P.S. - Are you ok with me adding this tool to the Jam page? (w/ credit, of course)?
This is a really nice version of that classic.
Absolutely looks the part, UX is nice and clean (love unused LED segments, lovely embellishment!)
The SFX are just right and makes is even more satisfying to reveal a large area.
I got quite close on my 2nd go, but alas, took a gamble that didn't pay off.
Great entry, nice one! π
This is wonderful! π€©π
Not only are the modes clean (+fun) to use, but when you get to play, WOW
The "elastic" bounce effect on the player is well worth however many bytes it took.
I also really love your "demo" game - lovely art & layout.
Great seeing what others have created also.
A really solid entry, nice one! ππ
Happy to be "First" on this one π
Firstly, wow again - seeing another game made with SCUMM-8 was an unexpected + very pleasant surprise! π
Secondly, was that genuinely a really awesome little adventure. It's gorgeous, sounds wonderful (even sounded Monkey Islandish at one point), has some really nice puzzles that are totally on point.
A perfect mini adventure, congrats! π€π
(+reminded me that I really gotta get back on that Picotron SCUMM-8 successor! π )
This is really cool - found myself hooked trying to complete it on first go (alas, I failed).>
Was then wondering how you stored all the block states, then saw MSET and was like "ah..."
(I keep forgetting about using the Map data for TTJ, reckon I may have to change that next time!)
Congrats on the solid entry mate, nice one π
Wow, another "stellar" (+buttery smooth) entry of yours! π€―
You really have managed to get all the shmup elements in such a small space, very impressive.
Makes such a diff. having the "single instance bullet" (or whatever the mechanic is called) - adds way more tension π
The progressive "homing" attack waves feel great also, def not a cakewalk to play.
Finally, loving the P8SCII ship - especially clever use of β€οΈ for twin engine jets, very cool ππ
Another solid entry, nice one π
Wow, that was quite haunting.
Wonderful narrative setup, you really do have a gift for words - I was hooked from the first paragraph.
The pure nostalgia of feeling like I'm using a rotary dial again was something I missed more than expected - good times π
Really nice and well-polished entry, congrats! π
Woah, I *knew* I should've paid more attention in school
...and in that 1997 movie "Cube" (one of my favs π)
Actually, I was shocked at how any factors I remembered while playing your fun (+tiny!) entry.
At first, I thought the hardest bit would be determining the right numbers.
Then I quickly realised that the jittery movements made it a mini-game to avoid the "wrong" numbers.
Very clever mix of design elements.
Cool entry, nice one! π
Holy heck - I mean... WOW! π€©
There's all of us playing in 2D and you're out here going
"Hey guys, there's like a whole other dimension ya know!" π
Ok, enough joking around - this is seriously impressive tho.
It not only looks & plays great, but it's also "buttery" smooth!
Superb entry, congrats mate π
P.S. - I was quite relieved to see there was a "winning" line - reckon I was one bounce away from falling to infinity π
This is a really neat mash-up of the inspired games (a really addictive one!)
Had to keep playing as I was determined to get a half-decent score (best was 17 π
)
Love the concept that, if you don't catch the ball, there's no floor to land on ππ
Think the low-rez mode was a great idea - looks more prominent
(+makes the fast balls that much harder to "hit")
Nice one π
