Love the video! Thanks for doing that. I would also love to see if someone can make this game on a real Spectrum - I tried to make the game as simple as possible for that purpose. By the way - there is a cheat code you can type in on the main menu if you want infinite lives, the ability to press F1 and skip the current level and unlock the bonus games. Open the PDF manual in the zip file, go to the credits page, underneath the egg border at the bottom of the page is some hidden text. Highlight it, copy it and paste it into a text doc to see what it says... 😊

Cheers mate - very much appreciated, and glad you enjoy the games. I have started out on another remake. Not saying what it is yet, but it looks a pretty simple game to do but is proving to be one of the most challenging I've done so far. Watch this space. Oh, and I didn't hate Chuckie Egg 2, but I missed the manic speed and simple gameplay of the first one.
Hi - thanks for your comment. I will be uploading a new version hopegully later today so I will sort that. As for the ladders - if you press left or right with up at the same time he will run along the platform and straight up the ladder. This is how it worked in the original Chuckie Egg - no faffing lining up with ladders. There is a standard set of controller commands in Gamemaker which works with most controllers. Unfortunately, if it does not work with your controller that's down to Gamemaker rather than the coding.
Thanks! I did consider a save option but decided against it as the original Chuckie Egg didn't save... I thought it might make getting through all the levels too easy. I did put in a cheat mode though. It's hidden in the manual and may not be visible at first... If you want it and can't find it, message me through my website.
Can you post the link to the Spectrum Computing post?
Hi Paul. This game was actually finished a couple of monthw ago, but I specifically wanted Leebee to do the music - and he's a very busy man! Sheepish (and another game I haven't posted yet) were also waiting in the wings which is why it seems I'm making the games really quickly. Having said that, I did take early retirement last year so I have a lot more time on my hands!
Hi Paul. In most of my games I don't usually set a specific frame rate, but I have in this and a couple of others as without it, it runs far too fast.
I'm likely to use F for fullscreen/Window, H for Pause and C to switch to Spectrum colours (if available) in future, so are there keys you would rather I use?
While we're here - here's a little tip that might make the game a little easier: You can go right to the bottom of the screen and run along the bottom. The baddies can't go down there so you're safe! I never knew this until I started playing the original game non-stop for this remake!
I loaded it up today to check out the sound. I also watched a video of the MSX version. I think maybe the helicopter sound in mine is a bit loud - would it help if I turned the volume of it down slightly? I wasn't impressed by the sounds on the MSX version at all - the helicopter sounded more like a steam train to me and when the dynamite sticks disappear it sounds like someone is shooting them! I do love 2600 sounds though.
I'm still laughing at "Oh my balls - I died" 😂... Good to see this game getting another airing as it's one of the first I made. If you have any suggestions about any other Spectrum games you'd like to see remade please let me know (I tend to go more for the jollier types of game rather than things like fighting games or such)
