from the very bottom of my heart, i'll say this with my full chest. this is easily one of my favourite games ever. beyond the incredible story, it's just a damn good game. i really enjoyed the controls!!! it took a little getting used to, but i just fell in love with them. the restaurant aspect was so much fun to play, and i felt it was the perfect difficulty. just ignore how i was screaming in my groupchat over how bad i was struggling lol. if you want a challenge, try make a perfect service; managing all of the tables is harder than it looks. or maybe it's a skill issue on my end. either way, i thoroughly enjoyed that part of the game.
I won't say much on the ending and story, so as to not spoil anyone reading through the comments, but my god, it was good. the foreshadowing was excellent. i loved replaying it, and thinking "oh. oh." every line/scene. the cast is really interesting, and i love the little details we get about their lives/past. it helps make the world feel more lived-in. the setting was a great choice, and i particularly like the time-period as i believe the main themes are very relevant to that time. manonnnnn i miss you wife come home :broken_heart: . bro vincent is so interesting to me, and i appreciate he isn't cartoonishly evil- the effort put in to make it clear he isn't just doing this for the shit's and giggles did wonders for the narrative. BUT NONE CAN TOP RODY-NATION WOOOOO. loved rody's character so much. he doesn't have a huge character arc in the story (we do get hints at a character arc before the story occurs), but he was a brilliant protagonist!!! i haven't seen many explore characters like him before, so it was already going to interest me, but the execution was superb. the tension in the endings was also really good!! my heart was beating so fast i could hear lmao. the horror was well-done
all around, a fantastic game. can't wait to replay it :)
okay but we must have words about the jumpscare i got when i just saw an eye in the wall. nearly fell out of seat with how i launched back/pos
love love love love the game. The writing is just spectacular, and the art? I'm half tempted to marry it instead of King Aurelian.
I'm so sorry if this is annoying, but head's up, when you name yourself after one of the characters in the English version, you get the little Easter egg in Russian. It's not that big of a deal, but it definitely surprised me to see Russian in the English version lol.
Can't wait to see how the game plays out, as the foreshadowing was sooo good.
One of the best visual novels I've ever played, if not the best. Of course, it is just the prologue for now, so I might be grasping at straws so far, but the game seems spectacular!
The premise is an interesting take on the "coming of age/mystery" genre, and is engaging with themes you don't often see with it, like death and gender identity. The characters are very fun, and just this short demo got so much of their personality on display. The differences between how characters act towards depending on your gender is clever, and I look forward to how the story plays with that concept. Detail after detail subtly points at how the story will go, and illustrates just how well thought-out this game is. I'm biased here since I'm queer, but the feature with the pronouns is amazing. It means so much to me to not have to fit in with the binary she/her or he/him, and that I can mix and match to my heart's content. The ability to use neo-pronouns is also a huge plus in my book.
All in all, if you're looking for a new game to play, I heavily recommend this one. I have high hopes for where this game will go, and cannot WAIT to see what Koko is cooking up!
