I’m not a programmer. When it comes to that 30 per cent speed boost for the core, the only thing that springs to mind is a redesign of how the system handles RAM and an real increase in the operating frequency to 28 MHz? At the moment, it’s actually running like at "24.5 MHz" because wait states are being inserted.

OK. thanks.

nice. cheers.

It's very informative and useful. It definitely needs better "advertising"; I don't use Facebook, but I guess you've posted it there—I hope as many people as possible see it.

thanks !

I tried it using the Cspect emulator. Everything works. There’s just one small issue. If I hide in a small cave, the shark stays waiting on the other side, just one ‘wall’ away, and doesn’t swim away after a while; what’s more, it’s very fast, so it’s impossible to escape, and the number of sonar attacks is limited.

best Next webzine !

cheers, good work.

even that wall of text is a shocking amount of the work !!

thanks.

so ala Chaos: The Battle of Wizards by Julian Gollop ?? .. thats good news.

thanks again !

no AY fx in my case /Cspect/ .. otherwise no problems. Diagonal movement is somewhat slower as it should be ?

I’m not a programmer, but for several years I’ve been trying to find out from the dev team about DMA limits, new modes and solutions, but there’s been no response and the forum is dead.

cheers, working under Cspect emulator even with very slow office PC.

Thanks.

H, still on Cspect emu.

When I shoot an NPC and walk over the corpse – or even into a living NPC – it’s as if I’m pushing the NPC’s sprite in front of me for a few frames.

At doors set in a recess, my character stops at the level of the wall and won’t move any closer to the door.

When I stab an NPC with a knife, there should be some sort of indication that the attack has landed.

Good work, lads. Just one question: will it be possible, in time, to add a bit of colour to that single-colour background in other games, a bit like the "copper rainbows" on the Amiga?

all working .. except cant hear enemy shooting at me even in a close encounter.

Half-res mode is now running quite well .. framerate wise. In Wolf 3D, when the player is hit, the screen takes on a red tint for a moment.

Rotation is faster, and the map works. In future, it may be possible to move around actively even in map mode, and a vector showing the direction the avatar is facing on the map may also be added.

Cheers. So far, everything looks very solid; of course, a little more speed wouldn't hurt, but as I said, I'm no programming expert. I'm thinking, though, of the FPS game GRIND for the Amiga, which I'm sure you know.

tested on very old office PC /cspect emu/ .. no sound, good gfx, I’m not a programmer, so I don’t know much about raycasters or BSP 3D engines.

cheers ..

as always thanks.

cheers and ad amiga "copper rainbow" backgrounds.

a fantastic work .. keep it up and thanks.

no trollling but I dont know .. Speccy guy, never owned Amiga.

I finished the Alien Breed 3D 1 remake for PC—Project Osiris by ArcturusDeluxe—a long time ago, and now I've come across your project for ABDII and see that there aren't any comments here.

So, hello, and good luck finishing the project. I'm very much excited about it.

fantastic work dude !

cheers, good work.

Thank you for working on Calm Commander!

Great answer. I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on your future work and spreading the gospel on the speccy /+Next/ forums, heh.

I don't have Next, and I don't plan on getting it, but I'm keeping an eye on the development of this "Commander". I hope it turns out so great that it'll launch by default every time the system starts up!

thanks, bazillion hours spended with Art Studio on ZX48.

OK, heh !

"In the near future, I would like to add loading and saving files to the SD card, but you will definitely read more about that later on itch.io."

.. so where are pics saved now ?

I'm not a programmer. The Next documentation states that, by default, it can handle a tileset of up to 512 tiles if the ULA space is utilized. And Mike Dailly just wrote a blog post about ULA, TILEMAP, and sprite rendering priority using BLEND modes.

The days when I used to type everything into the DOS command line in MS-DOS are 40 years in the past. Today, I just need to load a ROM with a single click. So thanks, but no... MAME isn't suitable for me.
