Hi Marvel,

So I have a personal Discord from 2017 but since this is for the business I setup a new Discord account and send you a friend request (MasterED).

Looking forward to seeing your past work.

Let me know if you have any questions about the postion.

Eddie

Well you are welcome to give it a shot. Have you played an TTRPG games?

Eddie

Hey bimplee,

Thanks for the message! Would love to see some of your TTRPG work. Your general art is awesome! I sent you a friend request on Discord (MasterED). FYI this is a business discord so it is new but my personal one has been on for almost 10 years.

You asked about tone and focus. Since this is a new game launch we are focusing on introducing the players to the gods, the factions, and just letting them get their feet wet. As far as tone I would go with warm, adventurous, and character-driven on the surface; eerie, melancholy, and conspiratorial underneath.

Look forward to talking with you more.

QUICK PITCH

Critical Adventures commissions paid, self-contained TTRPG modules of approximately 3,000–5,000 words. We provide the world, season arc, villains, gods, heroes, lore, and episodic concept; you turn that foundation into a complete, GM-ready adventure. Fees vary with relevant experience and work quality, authors receive publication credit, and creative input on the storyline is always welcome.

Hello itch.io writers and designers,

Critical Adventures is looking for freelance module authors to create self-contained fantasy adventures set in Aethoria, our post-Fracturing world. Think of each module as an episode in a television season—except the audience plays through it, and their choices shape how the story unfolds.

We have already developed the overarching story arc, world, villains, gods, heroes, and major lore. For each assignment, we will provide the episodic concept, relevant setting and character guidance, structural requirements, and editorial support; the author will turn that concept into a complete, GM-ready module.

Each adventure should run in approximately 120–180 minutes and will typically be around 3,000–5,000 words, depending on its structure and scene count.

WHAT A STRONG MODULE COMBINES

  • Engaging roleplay: Dynamic NPCs, meaningful choices, and layered lore
  • Tactical combat: Compact encounters using terrain and distinctive enemy behavior
  • Puzzles and exploration: Challenges that reward communication and cooperation
  • GM-ready execution: Clear scene entry states, permitted reveals, outcomes, and fail-forward options

PAYMENT AND CREATIVE INPUT

Every commissioned module is paid. The fee for each module will depend on the author’s relevant work experience and the quality of the creation. Scope, fee, revision expectations, milestones, and delivery dates will be agreed in writing for each assignment. Published authors will also receive credit on the adventure and related release materials.

Although the larger arc and episodic premise are supplied, this is not a purely mechanical writing assignment. We are always open to an author’s ideas for strengthening the storyline, characters, choices, encounters, or connections between episodes, provided they remain compatible with the established world and season direction.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are especially interested in writers with experience creating TTRPG modules, one-shots, or system-neutral adventures. Strong candidates can work within an established world bible, pace a complete session, design meaningful choices, and respond reliably to editorial feedback. Experience with cooperative puzzles, tactical encounter design, or fail-forward storytelling is particularly welcome.

HOW TO EXPRESS INTEREST

Please introduce yourself and share a portfolio or relevant writing sample. Complete modules and one-shots are ideal, but strong narrative-design samples showing pacing, player choice, encounters, or collaborative puzzles are also welcome. Include your availability and any systems or genres you know especially well.
