This is really cool. I just tested it out, just a quick few bugs:
The "GoTo" commands did not seem to sync up correctly right off the bat, and any line in my original twine that has quote marks seems to break things

This game was created from my own sleep deprecation and dreams, it is the correct way to experience it

No what I mean is basically a bypass to needing to detect, like a glyph that works for any standard gamepad.Basically - just a picture of 4 face buttons in a diamond shape, with the one in question highlighted, that way the image is completely agnostic as to what kind of gamepad you're playing on. this image has some icons for what i'm talking about (check out the 5th row): 
I guess in the long run you could just have it be a preference option too

This was just a quick suggestion as a workaround more than anything, i get that this is all pretty low priority overall, theres still plenty of AAA games that dont even bother

Just a quick thing - as a catch-all for face button glyphs, doing what nintendo does on the switch and doing a little icon of all 4 buttons with the north/south/east/west button highlighted?

He can be hard to find in the mist sometimes, but I dont believe he's fully able to leave the map

Anybody have a guide for the Shi No Numa PAP?
I thought I found all the pages, but I wasn't sure what to do with them (note: i was playing with sound off, in case there were audio clues I was missing). Also I noticed earlier on that there was the option to clear debris under the stairs in that map for some reason, I bought that early on, idk if that could have broke anything?

Idk if it's known at the moment, but the zipline didn't seem to work for me in the map, and I couldn't seem to even activate the electric traps unfortunately

Fantastic! This is so much more of a fun user experience than modding WaW, and I cant wait to see where it goes.

As a developer myself, I really hesitate to post my "features wishlist" as I know that can be really annoying, but I really gotta put in my two cents here because its rare for a project to make me feel like a kid again in such a way where its got me wanting to do this, so just take this as a "Im sure you all already considered most of this but I want to express my opinions" type thing

So, some things I would absolutely love to see out of this project:

-I didn't see the option to play at the CIA or CDC from BO2, I always loved playing as the CDC guys with their big hazmat suits

-More "preferences" ie - selecting if Pack A Punching the pistol gives you the C-3000 or Mustang & Sally. Personally I'd also love the ability to have the option to be able to look away from barricades as you rebuild them

-This is extremely niche but - when yall do Kino Der Toten, add the buy-able Aug from the Wii version lol

-Ability to shoot off limbs like in WaW

-Animated Barricades

-Difficulty options like from BO2

-Set default behavior for if you press the crouch button whilst running to either initiate a slide or a dive

-any way to keep track of what build able parts you have in your inventory

QOL Requests:

-direct healthbar for people that just don't like guessing if they can survive another hit at the moment

-ability to exit menus with 'esc'

-I feel the on-screen text needs settings for size and contrast

-option to have a small glow overlay on interactable objects

Bugs or / issues

-After drawing the grease gun wallbuy on Buried, the art took a while to appear

-In the loadout menu, the tab for the "Wonderweapons" button is cut off (Playing on a 16:10 display if this helps)

-Applying a skin to a weapon in the loadouts menu will apply it for all of the previews, even if it's a weapon you dont have

-Shouldnt the "Pack A Punch" and "Zombie Sounds" go under "Audio"?

-I feel like the lighting on the perk liquids is wrong

-Would like the ability to mess with console commands / have a setting to let me access it

Again, Im sure half of the ideas are already the kinds of things you're considering, just wanted to shout it into the void lol. Take care! I can't wait to see how this goes

I see what you're saying. A bit of the ambiguity is on purpose, but I think in general darkening the wood background from the foreground is more helpful. I actually found out that I had exactly one color palette  slot left to be able to do that in a handful of screens, so I'm updating the build now for that! Thank you! As for the map, that is probably the only feature in the game that I kind of left half-baked. If I find the motivation later, I can kit it out to actually unlock tiles as you progress / show where you are, but I need a break from this project for a bit lol. Thanks again for the feedback!

Hey there! Just wanted to try out the engine, I am getting an error when trying to compile a project. It seems It cant find the path to some sort tools if i am reading this correctly? If there are any sorts of modifications I need to do to my installation to get this working, please let me know! It seems to be checking random other directories near the installation?

This was my first project in godot, made as part of Global Game Jam 2026, I was working riiiiight up until the deadline, a whole videoplayer with full controls to pause & rewind is absolutely the #1 feature I was sad to have cut -_-

Honestly? Ideas for this one comes pretty easily, though its made easier because I keep a dream journal lol. Not everything is directly from a dream I had, but working in this realm comes really naturally to me!

Though the biggest thing is where I would want to go next - if i made more, idk what I would want - to make it just longer, or have it really start to branch out and become a non-linear thing?

The post mentions not to submit games that were "previously free, within reason", I just wanted to make sure - my game was only free to play during development for play-testing and feedback, now that the game is out, it should just remain at $5, that shouldn't be a problem, right?

the specific vernacular of "(cardname).(widgets).(widgetName).text" in particular just completely eluded me in the documentation for some reason

Im very confused as to how I am meant to do something like a basic inventory, or even a basic variable to keep track of progression?

Im going over the documentation and it feels like it's getting way too in depth with things way too quick, but I cant for the life of me figure that out?

So i assume i need to have a card at the beginning that has variables, so i tried setting some in the on-click of the "start" button i made for my game, but then i tried referencing it and it doesnt seem like it does anything?

is there a good example of something like this setup with more full context than the "primer" in the documentation? one that actually shows all of the relevant scripts, and where they need to go in order for this to work right?

I seem to be getting the bug where its not saving the map, I'm not sure how it gets into this state, but this is what I'm seeing

Any walls I place ARE saved, any players or enemies are NOT saved

I tried these different scenarios:

walls > players > walls

players > walls > more walls

walls > walls > player

walls > player > build map and see the player is where I put them

In each case, as soon as i left the map and came back, the walls WOULD save, but the player (and/or other entities) WOULD NOT save

In any case, great work, I think this is gonna be a great engine, keep it up!

What tool do you use to produce MD3 Models? I use Maya and Blender mostly, but Maya doesnt seem to have any support for it, and I couldn't find any currently-supported plugins for it in blender

Hey there, I was trying out both the current version of the engine here on itch, as well as the development builds from github, I saw you could use 3D Model files for things, so I wanted to try that out. The version here only seems to support .md3 models, I was looking into converting something like an FBX over to that, but I could only find some old blender plugins that dont seem to work with the current version. Any help on that end?
Otherwise, I did try the newest version of the engine on github, it seems to sort-of support FBX, but when I imported the model, it was far too big. I tried scaling it down in-engine, but it didn't seem to effect anything. I also tried scaling it down in blender and re-exporting, but that didn't seem to really changer anything when i re-imported? I even tried saving it as an entirely new model name, so I'm not sure if I'm not doing it right, or if FBX support is just a bit buggy at the moment.
Is there a best format to use that isn't md3 that I should try? or any general workarounds? any best practices or guides regarding what scale I should make everything?

Found a mysterious copy of this game at the library at magfest this year, this was absolutely fascinating and honestly finding this in the wild, given the nature of the project, is so fitting lol. Great work!

You gotta complete the level quest for all areas. And I lock their spinning red TV. Once you do all of them, you can proceed to the ending from the hub world
