I want to participate in pixel jam, because I like pixel games, but it has a theme. In rules there is no mandatory about using theme. I don't see anything about mandatory or permission. So I am asking can I make a game not really focusing on a theme if I don't like it and just get low points on theme category?

I found the voting page https://ugj.grumpycrouton.com/campaign/view/53. Cats suggestion has won. So it seems that the theme is Cats.

Did you find out?

The animations are cool, but personally, I missed the wall-running animation and the swinging-on-a-cat's-hook animation. I don't know how popular they are among other developers, but I'd be happy if they were included.
