Lycanny's quest starts with a pedometer you can get from a person walking in a tight circle in the north east part of the desert. Then you need to take enough steps before you can bond with her.

Aneola's quest starts by talking to a vendor in Spoon, then gathering the broken pots in the desert and bringing them back to the scholar who will be hanging out at the oasis in Spoon.

In the 0.4.x build there are 12 Tails you can have join your team, but only 7 of them have animations right now.

  • Bitchon
  • Moustera
  • Silkie
  • Faradoe
  • Gelakin
  • Lycanny
  • Stepmum

Also at some point we'd like to get translations in the game :D

The game was at least built with translations in mind, we just don't really know any languages other than English well enough to write in them.

Thanks!

If you're talking about Malcolm, he goes to the trial. There's a building that has a sign blocking the entrance, and after you speak to him in the historical society, he goes there. Then you can complete the trial.

Completing the trial opens up the training fields and the desert route to Spoon, the third town

You might be talking about Rolf also, who is in Spoon. After you speak to him, the trial in Spoon opens up and you can complete that. That's the last part of the story you can complete in the latest build, but completing the Spoon trial gives you a shovel which lets you go back to explore the cactus forest and tomb in the desert, as well as a few other places in the Training Fields and caves.

Just pushed a new build up. We had some issues with our animation exports this time. Sorry about that!

If you install the new version over it, your save should transfer. I've had to update the save file format pretty much every update, but it was built in a way that old saves will upgrade to the new format on first launch.

The trial is closed until after you've spoken to Malcolm. He's in the historical society building (the bigger one on the north side of town, second floor). He's supposed to help you get information about Missionary Cave.

They show up infrequently in Missionary Forest and more frequently in the Training Fields (which are unlocked after the Lotus Trial is completed).

Nope, none of those included. You're all clear.

Yes, you should be able to add every girl in the recent build that you can meet in the wild to your team. Not all of them having bonding scenes yet though. To bond with Faradoe, you need to talk to an electrician in a house in Lotus and he will start a quest. You'll need to go back to Missionary and get some food from there, take it back to the electrician, and he'll give you an item that will make Faradoe able to bond with.

Yes, you can heal at Jillian's bed and use that to help level up. You can also have a weaker Tail out front and then swap to a stronger Tail and they will both get experience.

We're going to be changing the combat system in a future update though, so hopefully we can make this a smoother starting experience!

Bummer!
I think for now I'll pass on the offer to do build trades, but maybe in the future? I'm trying to be more disciplined about which work we take on so we can keep making the most forward momentum as possible.

Would love to check out your game though! Always happy to meet another Godotian :)

Alright, there's a Linux build up now if you want to give it a try. As mentioned, no guarantees if it'll work or not though.

Thanks for the feedback! We do have the ability to export to Linux, we just have no way to test that it works at all. I wouldn't have a problem putting up a build with the expectation that we can't do all that much troubleshooting if something goes wrong though. I can try throwing one up later today.

Bummer to hear about the combat, but glad to get honest feedback. I'll have to think about the auto-battle mode. Anything more than an "end the combat and roll some random numbers for damage" would probably be a decent time sink, but nothing's out of the question.
We are hoping to keep iterating on the combat though! I'm hoping it'll be more engaging once there are more moves and Tails to choose from, and the system itself will continue to change as we try out new things.

Next public update is scheduled for August 8th! <3

Awesome! Glad you're enjoying it, the kind words mean a lot :)

We are aiming for something a little challenging which is the reasoning behind the Trial save restriction. They're actually gonna get harder in the future too, but we'll be adding in some difficulty modifiers at some point too so that players can choose what kinda challenge they're looking for.

Ah yea, right now it's just a coin flip. It's one of those things I have way down on the todo list to go and add some real logic to. Eventually it will probably be based on your lead Tail's speed and/or level differences, but it just hasn't been a priority yet.

You might need to head back to the Tail Academy. Getting her to drop a piece of herself is actually just one piece of the puzzle, and someone new to the building in this update should be able to help you out :)

The new public release just dropped and I _think_ we have fixed all the outstanding bugs. We still can't repro them, but I feel pretty good about it? And if the bugs are still out there, we've at least got crash reporting now so we should be able to get more info and fix it once we see it

Hope you get a chance to try it out and enjoy!

Yea we wanted to do more frequent bite sized updates at least for a little bit. Figured it would let people know that we're serious about intending to finish the game. We know there are a lot of games out there that put out a demo then stall and we don't want to be one of those.

This is another bug we haven't been able to repro, but I _think_ I've narrowed down the cause and hope the next build will be fixed. If it doesn't have the fix, the next build will at least have crash reporting so I'll be able to get a stack trace and really narrow it down.

Thanks for the report and sorry that it's crashing for you. The next public build should be on here July 11th if you want to check back then!

Sorry to hear that. We haven't been able to nail this one down yet. This is on Android I presume? The next build coming out will have crash reporting which won't fix the issue, but I'm hoping it will give us the information we need to find the fix.

We'll have a new build dropping on Patreon on the last Friday of every month (so two days from now), with it trickling out to other tiers over time. The public releases will be 15 days after the last Friday of every month, so for this next one that would be July 11th.

That sucks to hear it's still having issues. It sounds like there are a few folks with Androids still reporting similar.

The next build going out will have crash reporting that will let me know when things like this are happening and hopefully it'll give me the information I need to fix it. That build won't be out for another couple weeks though.

Glad you're enjoying the game when you can play it, and thanks for the patience!

Thanks! It took us a while to get to this point but we’ve got a lot of the engine built now and plotted out most of the Tails, story, etc so we’re hoping we’ll be moving faster now. We’re gonna try to get a new build out every month, but it’ll still probably take a while to get to a full version 1.0

(1 edit)

Ugh, we’ve gotten reports on this before but we haven’t been able to repro on the two Android devices we have.  I was hoping some of the recent optimizations fixes would have done the trick.

The black screen and dialogue is expected, that’s just the pre-scene dialogue. It seems like it’s crashing trying to load the animation of the bonding scene.

Can you tell me what device you have and what version of the OS you’re on? And this is with the most recent 0.1.5 build I assume?

Hey there! Sorry to hear that. Would you mind sharing a few more details?
When you say the first battle cutscene, you mean with the Moustera and Makout? Or do you mean bonding with Bitchon?
Can you tell me what platform this is on?
And if it's easy enough, sharing logs would help me narrow down the issue a lot. Logs can be found:

Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Godot/app_userdata/Venus Mons/Logs
Windows: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\VenusMons\log

If it's Android, it might be a bit difficult to grab.

Glad you were able to figure it out, and thanks for the comment, it's really appreciated!

Ugh, that Discord link is killing me. I feel like I've updated it four times now.

I'm _hoping_ this is a real actual permanent link now (and I've updated it everywhere else)

Thanks for the support! :)

Ah thanks. Wasn't sure if this was your account. We did order an A15 to try to repro the bug. Hopefully if I can fix what's happening there it'll fix it everywhere? It's rough developing on Android given the number of different configurations :/

Thank you! It means a lot to hear the kind words. We're working hard on it :)

Dang, we're just really good at crashing things I guess. :(

Really sorry about your phone. Is this the Samsung Galaxy A15 crashing on the Bitchon bonding scene?
