Quick note if you played this during the jam — the game's had a big update since then. New opening cinematic, a proper combat tutorial, fifty-four rulers you can now actually talk to, and a reworked renown system.

If you're curious, definitely recommend to have another look.

I Made a Game About Becoming a God

I wanted to make something that felt genuinely different for this jam, and the “Charge” theme gave me the perfect excuse.

The idea for Divine Charge actually came from scrolling through the Tantra Sadhaks subreddit and learning more about the many lesser-known deities within Hindu traditions - divine beings who aren't quite the grand, universally recognised gods, but aren't mortals either. It made me wonder: what if these gods were competing for worship, influence and recognition?

That became the foundation of Divine Charge.

You play as a newborn god, entering a world where the established gods already have centuries of worship behind them. Your job is to build your following, claim territory, perform miracles, fight Asuras, explore the three realms of Trilokya, and ultimately become the most worshipped deity.

The game now includes a world map, kingdom management, rival gods with their own Arena rules, multiple minigames, miracles, the Treasury, Wiki, Indra's Gate, Mahakali's Hour, the Apsara-focused Long Gallery, Gandharva Music Contest, Churning of the Sea, Rath Yatra and more.

The most entertaining part of development was probably discovering that I could actually lose my own game. The Arena and Asuras were initially so difficult that I had to nerf them after repeatedly getting humbled during testing. Turns out, being the developer doesn't automatically make you a better god.

I built the concept, lore and Hindu-inspired mythology myself. The music is entirely my own copyright-free work. For development, I used Claude Code for coding assistance and Nano Banana Pro for the game's visual artwork.

I had an absolute blast making this, and I'm really curious to know what other people think. I also made a trailer for this. I would love for anybody playing this to check out.

If you play Divine Charge, please give me your honest feedback - especially on the difficulty, balance, game modes, and whether the mythology feels approachable and interesting if you're unfamiliar with these traditions.

I'd genuinely love to hear what you think.
