I am loving this game!  Action games tend to be hard for me, but JoA lets you take a minute and plan your next move.  Also the jumps are forgiving.  Of course the graphics and sound are top-notch but really the gameplay is what keeps me coming back to try again, where in other games I give up.  Thanks for the fantastic release.

Hey Folks,

I just released my first Commodore 64 game, written in assembly language with no A.I.  It is a "coffee break" type game with a unique premise.  All original sounds and graphics, and all coding done by hand.  You can check it out at https://mjrippe.itch.io/hot-potato

There is also a link to a YouTube video that a fan made in the comments section.

Enjoy!

Mike

Glad you like it!  And thank you for posting the video :-)

Thanks Mat!  Seeing such high quality software available, it was hard to get this to a point I felt it was worth releasing.  I would have loved to add music and a lot of other features, but I set myself a deadline and this is where it ends :-)

Thank you Richard, this means a lot coming from you!

Awesome, I appreciate all the work that goes into a project like this and supporting it beyond the initial release.  Thank you!

I have been playing on an original C64C and in VICE, and I have noticed it several times.  Just now I played a random story, normal difficulty, and lost to the Cheatbot.  Tutorial was turned back on.

I've been playing this every day, and still find it challenging (on difficult mode especially!). It would be really nice if the Tutorial option would remain turned off once you select it instead of having to set it every time you go to the start screen.

This is where I heard about it!  Just downloaded, played, and left a review  :)

Yeah, it was my Pi1541 - you have to push the button to save changes to a .d64. I guess it works without it sometimes, but not always?  Anyhow, I've made it to the final level!  This is such a cool game and a unique idea, amazing work!

I really enjoyed this game.  Would love to see a longer game in this style!

Thanks for the detailed reply!  As I mentioned, it only started after level 25 and nothing has changed about my drive setup.  I'll try again and if I still have issues I'll get you the file.

Love this game, but I'm having an issue past level 25.  Games save OK and reload immediately, but if I shut down and restart the game I go back to level 25.  Using a Pi1541 drive emulator on an original shortboard 64.

Also, I started getting "BRK" cards in a red stop sign shape which prevent a full hand from being dealt.  I can clear them with a trash can, but they seem like a bug not a feature?
