im also having lots of fun! i like word puzzles and i also like being nosy so this is a great game for me. if only sudoku came with juicy scribe drama...

really enjoyed this one! i loved the format of like, puzzle piecing it. like ok its character X and object Y, that's close enough to show me location Z. great little game! wish i knew how to make things like this.

really had fun with this game! not too long but had enough in it for me to bounce around figuring things out, without much need for brute forcing. 10/10!

[SPOILERS]

I love how you get just enough information for the world to feel fleshed out but not so much that it gets boring slogging through endless birth and death and driver's liscence renewals, and I love how like... there's a lot of scheming and anger and betrayal but it's not like, senseless. Like... Basheel is rightfully not happy about the way her dumb brother and sister in law treat her but you can tell by reading about her that she's not the kind of person who acts rashly or wants revenge - like, when she meets telai she's not angry at her, she sits down with the exiled daughter of her enemy and talks to her, trades with her, envies the peacefulness of her life. and taal who has this outward appearance of being kind to everyone is awfully mean to her, and when she accuses her sister of a bitterness that could taint her bloodline... Basheel talks to people and learns. It's taal's bitterness that starts the war. it's her husband who says "yeah kill anyone you want as long as OUR kid gets that crown." like. its lots of little things like that. its fun.

would definitely organize genealogy for weird little bug people living in my walls again! still gonna leave out ant traps though.

(1 edit)

great game! im really enjoying it, the plot feels very tight. for some reason (edit: nevermind, the old turn it off turn it on again trick worked! but everything else has been fun to work out!

delighted to hear one of my games has found its audience!!!! Yeah that's the thing I rlly wanted to portray. I mean yeah I made the game because of a game jam because it was the first wtf acronym i could think of but ALSO there's this thing ive noticed where people only seem to consider things as being traumatizing if they're modern. Combat is traumatizing. The first diagnoseses of ptsd (not NAMED that but i mean, you know, the symptoms) was probably older than like. Shoes. People have been killing each other and having an awful time for the rest of their life about it probably since before people even existed. War is hell, even if there's no guns- in fact, war is arguably less traumatizing when you don't even have to be in the same postal code as the people you're killing. Can you imagine how awful it would be to be in battle with a melee weapon? You don't get the luxury of being able to pretend you're not doing what you're doing. You're killing people who are no different from you other than that you got them first.

But a war isn't just about the battle, is it? Cause you don't spend lots of time actually fighting. Battles in reality are pretty short. A war is the travelling, the sickness, the supply shortages, the getting lost, the mutinies, the stealing from the locals (very common), the being chased by angry wildlife - like. Imagine if you had to hike cross country and then also at the end kill people. And you don't even know them! Most of the time in war the soldiers don't actually KNOW their enemy- they don't have any personal problems with them, but someone very far away decided they want more money, or more land, or to remind everyone else how Big and Scary they are- which never involves them! The pope never got out there and smacked people! He just yells and then a bunch of people who one may dubiously consider his employees have to go across europe to ruin the lives of people they dont know just so everyone remembers what a big special boy the popey wopey was.

When you actually sit down and think about war it's kind of just... nonsense as a concept, isn't it?

Anyway!

I hope you have fun! I'd say if you do try out my other games but honestly they all have nothing in common other than the author and artist.

Hi! Sorry if this is weird, um, someone told me about this game jam and i only joined itchio like, today, to participate- how would I dm you? I don't have a twitter, and i couldn't see how else to contact you.
