Okay, I've enabled adding more files so that you can try to fix the web version if you still feel inclined to

Hi, I tried to play the game, but sadly the web version doesnt seem to work for me, and the windows version is flagged as harmful.

Alright, here's your late submission link:

/jam/418060/add-game/4862276/4797970?token=kn1twYXadcR00eGg5SegP7...

Can you please tell me what your game is called? Or even better give me a URL to your game's itch.io page?

Of course! :) I'll send you a late upload link within an hour or two

(1 edit)

Theme - Unlikely Combination

Description - A single player game about cooperation and coordination

Bonus Challenge - Exactly three buttons for controls

Welcome to the Valley of Lanterns jam!

Feel free to use the community section to ask for clarifiactions or anything else about the jam. I will try my best to be here and answer. Also, if you spot any issue, I'd love it if you tell me about it here so I can try to fix it and learn from it.

Thanks for being here, and enjoy making games together!

Given that there are only two submissions to this jam, and I have already downloaded your game, I don't think it's necessary for you to add web support.

But it's still a nice thing to do, and since there's only two submissions, and you've already used the late submission option I think there is no harm in me just disabling the voting-period lock altogether.

I went ahead and enabled voting-period editing. Let me know if that fixes things for you or if you need something else.

Alright. This should be the link to finish your submission. Let me know if it works.

I just need the URL of your game on itch.io so I can manually add it to the jam, and then send you a link to finish your submission. So just post the link to your game on itch.io or give me another way to find it so I can grab its URL

Of course. Can you link me to your game so I can send you a late submission link?

hi

Thank you. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make.

Yes, that's a very silly mistake on my part. An off-by-one error, really, where I took the span of four days, (friday to monday) and treated it as actually having four days for the jam.  When I noticed it, I did want to push it to four days (which was my original intention), but I didn't want to make a change like that to the jam when it was already out public. And especially now I feel people are already pacing themselves for the three days.

But if more people want to extend the jam, feel free to let me know and if there is enough interest I will do it.

If I make more iterations of the jam, the future ones will already be four days as the description promises.

Thank you for the kind words! It's a shame you can't participate, but I would love to turn this into a repeating semi-regular jam (if there's interest) so hopefully you will be able to take part in the future. And don't worry about few skills. That's exactly what these jams are for. To learn by making games and then getting others to actually play them, and hopefully even give you feedback to improve for next time.

Welcome to the Valley of Lanterns jam!

I am still new to the gamejam host interface so it is very possible I've made mistakes. If you spot any issue, I'd love it if you tell me about it here so I can try to fix it and learn from it.

Also feel free to use the community section to ask for clarifiactions or anything else about the jam. I will try my best to be here and answer.

Neat! Much smoother experience. Good job. Now all it really needs is more content since now I can easily just crank up the tickets into the hundreds. Even more so now that you can just rapid fire and after a bit of practice just hit every shot. Which is fun in that mindless way too :D.

Update: Turns out your game is addictive. I already found myself coming back several times to procrastinate :D Luckily the game eventually starts glitching which forces me to get back to work, but if you fixed that  and added some more content (giving me more ways to spend money to keep up the pressure), I could see myself wasting a lot of my time in it.

Thank you! Yeah the attachment can be a bit finicky. I tried to have the Rear Camera upgrade help with this, by allowing you to better line your truck with the item, but it for sure requires more polish, or some changes to the tethering mechanic. I've also noticed after submitting that specifically the fans are just bugged and don't attach properly.  I'm very happy you had fun with my game despite that.

Thank you! Yeah that happened to me during testing as well. I'm still a bit upset with myself for failing to communicate that you're never supposed to actually go IN the bay, but rather attempt to flick things to it from nearby. I'm happy you had fun.

Thank you! Weird that the ad didn't go in. It should be possible to score them (even though they have the worst weight:value ratio out of all the junk). Sadly under the time limit I didn't manage to label the bars properly, or explain the fuel and battery mechanics at all, but I'm very happy you had fun with it.

I love it.  For such a small and simple game it has some great design work in it.

All the small systems like the risk-reward choice in selecting which item you break, or whether you even try to break multiple,  the decision whether to already buy the next thing, leaving yourself fewer tickets left to try and make the money back, or whether to wait a bit to play safer, etc really tie nicely together for an experience where you're always making interesting decision all on the background of the main skill-based game loop.

Not sure if you didn't add audio, or if there was a bug with it, but didn't have any sound which was made the game feel a little unfinished, which is a little bit of a shame, but easy to fix I'm sure.

Overall a great game, and I really love the theme interpretation. The fact I have to pay just to unlock the option to pay for balls is delightfully on theme.
