Animations and sprites look so good! Game is really polished as well, and the sound design  complemented the experience a lot!

(1 edit)

Yeah, i am thinking of a way to minimize the pause sheet use when playing the game for the first time. Working on a patch to fix it.

About the progress bar, the answer is actually a bit stupid lol. I just drew an animation and made a script to move it together with the top of the progress bar. A completely unintended side effect was that the animation was getting scaled down in the y axis too, but i thought it ended up being cool (the waves seem to get smaller as there is less "blood" in the meter).

Thanks for playing!

P.S. The sprite sheet for the animation is below. Feel free to use it if you need it, with or without credit (although it is appreciated).

Dope! I was going crazy looking for the last one for a while. A little bit of audio would really enhance the experience tho.

Thanks!

That is definitely one of the more unique concepts that i've played so for. It is a kind of a... inverse roguelike plataformer? Really creative concept. The music and the fire sounds in the bakground really added to the ambience as well.

Thank you so much! Inscription and balatro were definitely the main inspirations I had in mind while designing it.  I'm glad you enjoyed the sound design and that the story ended up hitting the mark as well. The overall atmosphere of the game was one of my main focuses going into this.

There is actually a good "true" ending coded into the game, but it is basically impossible to get because I messed up the balance. So don't be too sad, it is overall a story with a happy ending.
Also, I've been thinking a lot on how to fix the pause menu problem. Once the jam is finished I will release a couple of patches that (i hope) will mostly fix the issue.

I had A LOT of fun playing this. Really stressed me out too. Also fits nicely to the theme.

I'm really glad you enjoyed! The overall atmosphere was a big focus during development.

Thanks for playing! Stay tuned for updates, I've been itching to release a couple of big patches as son as the jam is over (bugfixes + rebalancing + new upgrades).

Nice! Super on-theme! It's a really cool implementation of a "count down" (no pun intended, having a limited number of interactions to solve a murder misery is dope).

I actually ran into the journal bug, thought the guy was laying, accused him and won somehow lol

Thanks for playing!

A couple of commenters suggested that. While thinking about the gameplay loop, i figured only the pause would be enough, but it's probably not fun to keep bringing it up a lot.
I've been thinking about adding card descriptions that tell what beats what, and allowing the player to turn it off in an options menu.

I had a lot of fun playing! Loved the little messages that pop up from time to time once you start to get relatively late.
However, i did have a bit of trouble understanding the controls and navigating the map. Too much tight corners.

lol I definitely agree with you, betting my own blood into something might be a tad bit extreme.

Thanks for playing!

Thank you so much!

Love to see another card game! Really well thought out design, and satisfying to play!

You can press ESC to bring a menu with a diagram, but i should probably have included that in the tutorial. A couple of commenters sugested keeping the diagram always on screen too...

Thanks for playing!

P.S. Oh nice! I will check it out!

Thanks! I´m glad you had fun!

Yeah, some commenters pointed that out. I need to figure out a way to showing it without making it intrusive.
Thanks for playing!

Thanks!

Nice concept, and really well executed too!

The concept was really cool! After a while the audio started sounding a bit repetitive though, specially the dash audio.

Thanks!

Nice! I had a lot of fun. The art was dope and the story was a nice touch.

Loved the style!

Full screen kinda worked for me... But it wasn't really full screen. Game was in a smaller window to the top-left and the rest was black.

But overall dope game! I did ended up getting a bit confused by the skills changing randomly though.

Super cool art! Really beautiful game!
Also love to see a card game with a similar concept to mine.

Thanks for playing!
Someone suggested that I should keep the rules diagram always on the screen... Maye that would make it better.

You have a point! Right now theres really no reason to add regular cards to your deck. Maybe just kings and that's it.
The original idea was to make artifacts that reward specific play style, like just using lower cards... But i ended up having to scrap it to finish the game in time.

Also, thanks for playing! I´m glad you enjoyed.

Really cool! It is intense and really fun at the same time!

Soundtrack was amazingly done as well.

Yeah, shirts spontaneously combusting is actually a really common occurrence in everyday life (source: trust me). That definitely happened to my a couple times. Today I always have a fire extinguisher in my room just in case.

Jokes aside, I'm glad you enjoyed playing, thank you so much!

It is indeed really nice to see another work themed game!

Really cool project. Had fun running around and got a little overwhelmed by the end. Nice game!

But the path finding bit buggy, I think?

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

Also yeah, my tie is still stuck at that goddamn ceiling fan.

Thank you so much!

Well I got all the sound from Pixabay, at 5 am after messing with the game all night, so it's possible I am wrong, but I do believe that their assets are all free to use, other than in a standalone basis right?

Originally the background didn't cover so much of the screen, but I ended up having resolution issues when exporting to HTML. Changing the color was actually a good idea. Wish I thought of that.

About the hit boxes... Yeah I had a little trouble with them, as you can probably tell lol

Yeah the fire was a bit too much. Too much stuff can go wrong.

I do think it's doable though. You just can't brute force it. Play smart with the fridge, the table and the sacrifice altar and the game is really chill.

I probably should've added more dialogue hinting to that.  It's the first time I've made a puzzle game, and finding the balance between saying too much or too little is so damn hard...

Thank you so much! Yeah, I couldn't get the interaction system quite right for when there are objects too close to each other.

But I am really glad you enjoyed overall!

Nice art and music! Loved to see the news headlines.

Loved the retro vibe you were going for.

Great job! Feels really good to play.

REALLY enjoyed the game. Like i actually would keep playing an indeterminate amount of levels. The sound design was also on point.

Feels really good to play! I like that you can slow down by changing direction a lot.

"but you're a shaman and you are high. What can go wrong?" .

Lol that took a laugh out of me. Loved the theme!
