yeah i did it intentionally, they were meant to be the things you might expect AI stuff to do. and i could definitely make it funnier and also more clearly parodying. maybe i could do one of those nonsense loading things like “Consulting word database…”, “Refining presentation…”, “Formatting suggestions…”, “Adding temporal breaks…”, etc.

thanks! and good observation, i am an enthusiast in cryptic crossword clues (i try making one every day of a random word in the r/crosswords subreddit), so i was probably inspired by those indirectly.

thanks for the idea about the word, but i think the game as it is is still pretty difficult. i mean, many of the levels effectively do hint at their solving word, because the solving word often comes after a rephrase. so for Level 3 (Addition), the answer isn't really server, but rather caterer. Level 12 (Viscount?)'s answer isn't really importantly; it's clearly vitally. it's tantamount to a definition in a cryptic crossword; the word means “importantly” and you need to figure out what word means that before submitting by using the Rephrase feature.
anyway, perhaps i could give different difficulty modes or something, but for now i’m going to err on the side of being easy and still fun. i think that’s the best decision because a lot of people struggled with the puzzles.
Good choice for a topic of game jam. I liked the programming puzzles, and the art ones were okay (the RGB one was manageable but it takes great precision). Unfortunately I couldn’t quite understand how the health system worked or when it ends, so I usually just got surprised with a fail. The music is nice, though. I think it has great potential if you ranked it at the end based not only on the player’s game but also on their health and sleepiness, so that way the player will have a choice to stay up all night (as many submitters have done here, I bet) and regret it soon after but be satisfied that the game is good.
Creative game! It was simple but still a struggle to get the most time. I didn’t initially understand that when the empty sockets are treated “as a zero”, you meant that it is simply taken out entirely out of the number (so an empty 03:__:00 is treated as 3 seconds). It makes sense in hindsight but I didn’t get that part immediately. I also didn’t know that above 60 hours was an invalid time; usually it’d either be unlimited or capped at 24. But anyway, the style was nice (and the unscrewing stuff reminded me of There Is No Game).
thanks! i definitely could and hopefully will extend this to have more puzzles. and yeah i just wanted it to be something where the rephrase feature seem like something more “complete” while at the same time having more jokes and memes in them. i’m happy that you noticed that aspect of the game.
also that’s why i made it so you can change the title of the levels just like you would an actual document, and it actually changes the name in the homepage. not sure about how noticeable it is, but it’s something i also thought would enhance the experience.
Fun, but it was a bit easy; I was a bit worried that there would be too many things to do under the 5 minutes. I absolute love the concept, though, and it has a lot of potential. I could easily see these elements in an updated version:
- upload error for itch.io
- sudden system update
- checking bugs after exporting to web
- more people playtesting Anyway, great concept!
Great work! Thought it was too simple at first but I was proven wrong by the later levels! Very nice polish, furry character design, audio, and narrative (I was hoping the ending wouldn’t be like that but it’s still nice). The only two problems was that it ran slow on my end, so it took more time to do things, and the stretched pixelated font looks a bit weird. But overall very well done with all the tricky puzzles.
Very funny! It definitely succeeds in its goal to make the player buy the most expensive things. I would definitely have liked it if there was a clearer indication that you can restart by pressing the “X” button; I did not know that until after I completed the game, leaving me hurriedly searching for the geese racing popup. It would also be good if the “no” button changed to a different colour if I’ve pressed it, because I kept needing to look at the total amount to see if I had clicked it.
But overall, great work!
Great concept and game! I especially liked the digit-flipping one; that one was a very nice touch. The twist at the end was nice too. Level 7 was tricky; at first I did this:
738 512 64
the logic being that the 3-1-4 and 5-1-2 add to eight (ATE) and the 8-2 and 6-4 add to TEN. I was definitely overthinking it, but there’s a puzzle there somehow. I’m glad that there was a challenge even for people like me who can do small sliding puzzles somewhat quickly.
fun puzzle, also

one part reminds me of an only connect type puzzle i made: Clue 1: HearrighttClue 2
Ego UpimClue 3
RedownblicClue 4
transmoleftlspoiler
"replace the direction with its opposite direction backwards", so heartfelt, Ego Nwodim (an actress), republic, and transmothgirl (the name of someone in the lingo server, whose name is probably the only example of something containing "thgir" continuously unless you count "Earthgirl" as a girl from earth)beginning levels were interesting but two of the later levels are really, really unforgiving (currently stuck on the second one), and the controls get a bit finnicky there. it doesn’t help that it went slower around that time too. it’s a nice idea though; i just think it’s too timing-reliant for a puzzle but too tricky for a platformer.
