really solid and fun platformer! i like the concept and mechanic of the "2 worlds" so to say - the outside where it's easier to move around but you have a time constraint, and the water where it's more dangerous but you can stop and think.

one thing that bothers me is the inconsistency of the artstyle between the background, foreground+player and the water creatures; as well as some assets just not complementing each other's styles.

the controls need some getting used to (mainly W/S, at least for me), but are well-explained, smooth and responsive!

overall i really enjoyed playing and trying to beat it! good job :33

awww im very happy to hear that, no problem :D

i can relate so much to the time management problems - the previous game jam i took part in, we got completely scope-creeped and ended up only finishing like half of the game lmaoo

so dont worry and good luck with both this game and any future ones :3

also out of curiosity: are you planning to stay as the same team for future game jams?

np! :D

i havent gotten that far in deltarune yet, so i'll keep an eye out for the similarities when i get there :3

the game looks great! i really liked the music and how it dynamically fades and changes based on if you're in combat or not! details like that are very rare in jam game soundtracks, and they do a lot :3

the graphics and spell effects are very nice - only one thing i would add is a floor texture, i feel like it's a bit bland with only one color.

i agree with others that the map layout, objective and gameplay are somewhat unclear. on my first playthrough the exit didn't even spawn - i looked in all directions and there was only the shop.

some suggestions: definitely a minimap would do wonders! along with maybe some more written direction. also: scrolling to change spells should definitely be added to the tutorial! i learned it from the comments here.

another bug is sometimes when enemies deal damage to me, the screenshake gets like 100x as intense and i can't see anything; and ofc the lag when loading spells for the first time.

nevertheless the game has a lot of potential, and as i said the music and art are great :33

keep going!! im looking forward to trying this game in the future if it gets updated :D

great game!! not too easy but very fun to play; i really like the candle mechanic, and the order/timing of how the controls were explained - it feels very natural!

i agree with the other commenters - a brightness setting is one small thing that would improve a lot.

also one thing i really loved - the undertale-style beginning text, from the sound to the animated floating letters, it's so cool :3

thank you so much!! :DD

thank you so much!! :3 (especially on behalf of the artist, i just told him to come look at all these comments, im sure he will be very pleasantly surprised)

it's true that the gameplay is somewhat tedious - after the jam ends we will try to update the game and combat that :D

thank you for the feedback!! :D

these 3 things are definitely stuff we will fix after the jam (along with adding sound effects and possibly more music); also more content will be added to the map to make it actually enjoyable to play for a longer time!

also thank you for the nice words - i'm glad you like the idea and hope you'll be able to play the updated version later! :33

thank you for the feedback!! it's very true, the map is quite barren and we will definitely add more content to it later :D

however i only thought of adding more stuff on the actual map and not - like you said - things to give the player more control; these are amazing suggestions and will come in very useful :3

thank you! (especially on behalf of the artist!) :D

thank you so much for the kind words and feedback, will be very useful :33

im glad that you enjoyed the text thingy!! i agree you should be able to skip/fastforward it; and as for the sound effects, that is one of the main things we didn't have enough time for, and we will definitely add them later :3

thank you! :D

the ghost AI is really well done, it reminds me of Pacman - each ghost has a different behaviour, so they will eventually corner you from multiple sides if you're not careful.

the game gets really hard towards the end, with the ghosts being much faster.

i also really like the beginning illustrations, and the map layout

overall very fun to play! :3

very fun platformer with good controls!! really hard as well, though it might be me because i suck at games with these grappling hooks

i like the mechanic of jumping in the water to cool down, and the addition of the sandbox level to practice :3

thank you!! :3

Fun little game with very cute graphics :33

I think it could benefit a lot from some animations, even subtle ones! Same with music

I made it to level 20, the fire and upgrades are well balanced I think

truly beautiful especially the cover art, character animations and snoring sound effect, love seeing this type of game every once in a while on game jams; i would NOT be surprised if it gets top1 on gwizziness, whatever that might mean

It's a fun platformer :3

thanks! i reviewed your game as well :D

very fun and addicting game! it seems really polished. i like the mechanic where you have to click the cat to get a powerup since you can miss it while focusing on the doors! my personal record is 154 so far

Congrats!! ^^ It is kind of random because you don't see the noise bar, that is something we could potentially change. I'm glad you had fun!

Very nice and chill game! :D I agree with spicyfrog - a feature to delete placed decorations would be very useful. Apart from that everything is good. I also liked how satisfying the door making process is!

Thanks! :D

I just looked that up and it really is so similar lmao

not too easy, but very entertaining and fun :D

A very surreal game. Your reasoning behind it fitting the theme is the best I've seen so far lmao
The movement is a bit buggy, and you can get stuck on terrain sometimes which is kind of annoying, but it doesn't happen very often. The dialogues were funny and added a lot of depth to the game. Overall it was very fun to play :>

Very fun and challenging platformer. The music gets a bit repetitive after a while. Otherwise it's great! I like the 8bit style and sound effects.

Thanks for playing and the nice words! The restart was implemented but it seems like it stopped working on WebGl or maybe because of something else. The guy does need some balancing, as well as the intro cutscene. I'm glad you had fun playing!

We were running out of time and did not do pretty much any playtesting, so I knew something like this would happen haha

About the key, you're right - he should wake up when you walk too fast near him. We will probably add that after the jam is over!

Thanks for playing and for the criticism!
