So it does have a limited range; you'll need to get a lamp close enough to the clown in order to drop a potion and lure it out. You shouldn't be able to drop a potion in locked areas.

We're investigating the worker issues, so hopefully they will be fixed soon!

Yeah, the clown grimaces in the dark do indicate where the clowns are! Try using a Lure Brew on the grimaces with the blue hats ;)
