I do very much like the idea!

However, I’ll have to concur with other commenters that the onboarding would need work. Perhaps an interactive tutorial of some sort? The manual does tell you what you need, but it’d be perhaps slightly easier to approach for the non-programmer folks.

I work as a professional software developer, but primarily in “work”/“job” software. I’ve enjoyed video games for most of my life though, and I’d like to learn how to create them as well. And – naturally – have fun whilst doing it!
