I thought my mechanic charged me an arm and a leg but this dude takes it to a different level...

I really enjoyed this! Unfortunately, I couldn't beat it since I kept running out of gas and having little accidenty-poos. Still, the amount of polish that went into this jam game is quite impressive. The sound design in particular was amazing!

My feedback would be to somehow show the distance remaining to the finish line, since I have no idea how close daddy got to the milk store. Also, if there's a way to skip the mechanic cutscene that would be good, since after the third crash it felt a little repetitive.

Overall, great work to the team!

I really liked this model! Made a short game using it https://picklejarpotatoes.itch.io/alarm

I don't play much mystery games, but I enjoyed this! It was fun catching discrepancies between pieces of evidence to sus out which ones are to be trusted. Took me about 40-ish minutes to finish (I submitted my accusation then got a letter saying the suspect was arrested, then the screen went black).

It just took me a while to figure out you can click on the corner to turn the pages of evidence, since the cursor doesn't change when it hovers over the corner. Also, trying to look at two pieces of evidence together felt a little finnicky. I also wasn't so sure what the magnifying glass was for?

All in all, a fun game with an engaging mystery! Once I saw all the evidence laid out, I was super determined to solve it.

Likely not, as I only have time to do small jam projects every now and then :(

Thanks! Yeah, adding a bit of warning before the shop pops up would make it not as jarring. Having fence upgrades is definitely something I considered, but I didn't have enough time unfortunately.

Thanks for the comments! Yes, I would've loved to add more gun upgrades or sheep but I had lots of other commitments during the jam haha. I agree that the upgrades are pretty darn strong right now lol

Congrats on winning! Definitely well deserved :)

Hey! I had a fun time on your stream so I figured I'd join the game jam. Joining kinda late, but I hope I can make something fun!

Thanks! Your game was also super cool :)

Didn't know the game works on iPad lol. Thanks for playing!

Very unique game; never would have thought to make a game about shrimp. Plus the title is pretty funny too!

Congrats on finishing your first game! I enjoyed running around the map and fighting the eel guy at the end.

This game felt pretty cozy, especially with the nice background music. It was pretty cool to leisurely ride around the village delivering ice cream, and it kind of reminded me of the times when I would go biking around my neighborhood. The game did seem a little short, but I understand that the deadline was tight :)

Congrats on your first game jam submission! I find that it fits the theme of "drift" perfectly and it had a simple, but effective gameplay loop. I did find it a bit hard to control the seed at times, and often completely overshot how far the seed should go, but I wonder if that difficulty was intended? Anyways, I enjoyed this!

Amazing game with amazing art + sound! Felt very satisfying drifting around and shooting the enemies.

Lovely art and sound, though I keep drifting all the way back to the bottom :(

Probably a skill issue.

That was awesome! I really felt like I was in space and trying to do some gravity slingshot maneuvers . Impressed that you were able to design all those unique levels within the short jam timeframe. Great job!

Appreciate the feedback! It is somewhat hard to write a cohesive story for a short game jam, so adding branching paths would've blew up my scope haha. Thanks for playing!

I found the jumping sound effect to be satisfying, so it was actually fun just jumping around on the different platforms! There seems to be an impossible jump once you reach the gray tiles, as the character can't jump that high. Though I understand that you weren't able to keep working on this project.

Ok, so I had to download java to play this game but I found it quite fun! It had a simple but engaging loop, and I found myself locking in to survive the last 30 seconds with only 2 lives left. I like the cute artstyle and found that this perfectly fits the theme of drifting. The game also gave strong summer vibes so it definitely fits this summer game jam haha

Thanks for the comment! And thanks for the tip, since background and resolution stuff kinda flew under my radar haha.

Very charming art style and fun gameplay loop! I loved the feeling of progression as you recruited more wizards and got new swords. Really loved the BGM as well.

Fun danmaku! I REALLY enjoyed the background music and it definitely felt like a Touhou soundtrack. Furthest I got was Y 1600, as the difficulty was quite high.

Fun puzzle game! I got stuck on the level that asked "How's the box man". Evidently, the box man kept getting rekt.  Really enjoyed the BGM as well!

Very simple but fun! Definitely feels like a game you'd see at a retro arcade, or even on those old flash game sites. I like how the monsters slowly destroy the walkable area, which felt like an original mechanic.

All my fellas died :(

Very fun though! I liked the variety of different classes and the retro look of the game. Auto battlers are quite fun.

That was super fun! I love me a good vampire-survivors like game. I came a little close to crashing the game a few times, but luckily the game held on until the very end. I felt like the difficulty escalation was done right, and I really like the SFX. Good job!

Thank you so much! Looking forward to your video!

Very fun and original idea! I'm not much of a gambler, however, and kept getting shot in the face. Apparently my strategy of going all in on the lowest odds racer wasn't the best lol

Fun little racing game! I kept getting my car flipped, unfortunately, which resulted in me getting stuck and having to restart multiple times, so I couldn't finish the game :(

That is SUCH an original idea! I love your take on the theme of retro, and the idea of driving backwards from a monster makes for a very cool endless runner experience. I found the third person mode to be much easier than first person.

It was quite spooky when I turned around and saw a big fella staring down at me. Good work!

I liked this one! I was like $25 away from the bus ticket so I didn't get that ending, unfortunately. At first things felt a little slow, but then the mystery picked up and I found myself wanting to know more about the town and the character we play as.  Almost felt like I was reading a mystery novel :)

Thank you! This was more inspired by Dune than Journey, but I definitely see the resemblance. Yeah the woman was a billboard sprite and there were some glitches when viewed from certain angles lol. The glass breaking was another billboard sprite I just placed at the sky, which turned out pretty cool.

Thanks for playing! I enjoyed watching your video!

Thank you! I find short games more fun to make than long games, so I definitely will make more.

Quite the suspenseful game! The entire time I was wondering what is really going on around the lake since Gil seems to be hiding things from Finn and Finn seems to be tripping balls lol. I really like the pixel art aesthetic of the game and the fishing minigame is quite fun.

Some comments:

  • I was unable to finish the game since I got stuck on the part when the water current makes a box around the fish. My hook would just keep going round and round the fish due to the current, and no matter how much I tried to maneuver the hook, I couldn't get inside the box.
  • I liked the CRT filter, but I feel like the image distortion was a little too strong. I felt a little dizzy when walking for an extended period of time. Perhaps an option to turn off or adjust the strength of the filter would be good?
  • I feel like some background music would be good—I wanna listen to some music while fishing! I know during the spooky parts there is some background sound, but the rest of the game felt a little barren without any background music. What if the normal parts had background music, then when spooky stuff happens it's silent instead? Could be unsettling.

I think this is a great proof of concept for the prototype. I enjoy the mystery of trying to find out what's going on with this anomalous lake. Looking forward to a complete version!

Congrats on getting 2nd place! I LOVED the whacky aesthetic of this game and found it super enjoyable. Looking forward to seeing your other projects!

Congrats on getting first place!! This was an awesome game made by a great team. Would definitely make for a sick portfolio piece ngl

Thanks for the feedback and the peephole bug report! Yes, I feel like after getting feedback that the QTE is a little too difficult. I don't think I can update things while jam voting is still happening, but I'll have to keep that in mind.

I'm glad the storytelling resonated. I really wanted the protagonist to appear crazy at first, but is actually staying inside for good reason, so I'm happy that was communicated.

Thanks for the feedback!

Very fun! The art style is also quite unique and I love the sense of humor in this game. The gameplay loop is also quite entertaining. My only feedback would be to give some sort of checkpoint system, as being sent all the way back to the beginning after dying didn't feel nice. Of course, that may be a skill issue on my part lol. The shopkeeper guy is also really cool.

Great job!
