It's catch 22, a single dev like myself needs every help I can get. Valve forces us to get people to use Steam in order for our games to generate a profit there. Meaning if small dev studios want to survive, we're under Valves thumb. That said, my game is so inconsequential compared to those with marketing abilities and publishers, having a demo here may not be such an issue.
Ill try get one sorted here tomorrow.
The demo is on Steam because we are basically forced to release one to get anywhere on there. To join Steam Next Fest we also have to release a demo.
Valve has purposely created an issue where unless you get people playing the demo on their platform, you get buried on their platform and if you get buried on Steam, well, then the game is as good as dead as the majority of gamers refuse to use anything else.
However, if there is enough interest, I can look at releasing it here too whilst it is up on Steam.
My spaceship building colony sim SpaceSlog has now been released for sale on Itch.
