I LOVE SLEEP: Created with Love for the Linux Community

Your cozy, all-in-one file conversion center for Linux—PDF, Office, Images, and more with just one click.

"Because no matter how much we love the terminal, tonight we just want to convert a file and go to bed."

Hey everyone!

I LOVE SLEEP is a native, open-core file converter made by a Linux lover, specifically for the Linux community. This project was born out of deep respect, gratitude, and warm affection for this incredible ecosystem. Its core is—and will always remain—100% free and open source.

🔗 Try it out here on itch.io: https://programador18.itch.io/i-love-pdf

(It will also be coming very soon to GNOME Software!)

 Why Does This Project Exist?

Let’s be honest with each other: those of us in the Linux family adore the terminal... but after a long day, being productive shouldn't mean struggling to remember complex command-line syntax just to convert a document. Sometimes, you just want things to work instantly so you can relax.

I LOVE SLEEP doesn't reinvent the wheel. Instead, it takes the raw, rock-solid power of the best tools in our ecosystem (LibreOffice, Poppler, Ghostscript, ImageMagick, Calibre, and more) and wraps them in a beautiful, friendly GUI.

  •  Polished UI: Styled with a sleek WhiteSur-dark aesthetic and intuitive icons that feel right at home on your desktop.
  •  Full Control: Real-time job queue and visual progress bar so you're always in command.
  •  Zero Friction: All the muscle of the command line, with zero terminal hassle.

What Can It Do for You? (24 Integrated Tools)

  •  PDF: Merge, split, compress, rotate, watermark, sign, edit, and OCR in Spanish.
  •  Office: Seamless conversion between PDF ↔ Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  •  Images: Extract PDF → JPG/PNG, convert JPG ↔ PNG, and render SVG → PNG.
  •  Docs & Ebooks: Easily export HTML → PDF, Markdown → PDF, and EPUB → PDF.

 Quick Installation (Universal AppImage)

No matter what distro you call home, you can run it in seconds:

  1. Download I_LOVE_SLEEP.AppImage.
  2. Right-click the file → PropertiesPermissions → Check Allow executing file as program.
  3. Double-click, grab a cup of tea, and let it do the work for you!

❤️ From Me to You:

Any feedback, bug reports, or suggestions mean the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting open source, for testing this out, and for making the Linux community the warmest, best place on the internet!

A Personal Note from the Creator: Why "I LOVE SLEEP"?

You’re probably wondering about the name. Truth be told, "I LOVE SLEEP" is pure sarcasm.

Anyone who uses Linux and loves the terminal knows what it’s like to spend days glued to the screen, completely losing track of sunlight, hunting down a bug, tweaking configs, or running repetitive tasks while exhaustion slowly sets in. I just wanted to get some sleep, not spend hours writing bash loops just to convert a batch of files.

This project was born out of a moment of sheer frustration. I had an important report due and was faced with a massive directory of files that needed to be converted into different formats before I could pull it all together. Doing it manually—or stringing together single terminal commands—was absolute torture, so I said: "Enough is enough."

I sat down one afternoon to map out the idea. It took me 5 days to build the graphical interface and structural layout to make sure it looked great. On the sixth day, I dove into the heavy lifting by hooking up the core scripts, and by the seventh day, it was finally finished. Seven sleep-deprived days so that you (and I) can click a single button and go to bed with peace of mind. It was built with a ton of love, patience, and genuine care for this entire community.

Finally, I want to sincerely apologize to users running Fedora, Arch, and openSUSE. I know you're used to being on the bleeding edge—getting the newest tools, features, and modern software before the rest of the world. Because this project was born out of my own urgency, I initially built it on Debian-based foundations. But rest assured: this is an Open Core, community-driven project. If you're on one of these distros and notice something isn't running as smoothly as it should, let me know in the comments. I will personally make sure to pack a dedicated portable build (tailored AppImage) for your system.

Thank you for supporting open-source software, for your feedback, and for being the absolute best community in the world!

Happy converting... and sweet dreams!
