Great work! I really like this interpretation of the theme.
Only suggestion I can offer that hasn't already been said is that I think the floor and wall textures are fighting too much for the visual attention. I think it would be easily enough fixed by making the walls darker. Other than that, it's a really cute style!
I definitely had considered making a 'good' ending, unfortunately I did procrastinate too long on actually working on this to implement a branch for that that I felt would have been satisfying lol. That's super helpful to know in terms of returning to the beginning, I'll be sure to implement that as soon as I get a chance to.
