Well, I receive some questions over here, discord and instagram, so here's some answers:
- Live instruments: The idea of this particular jam is to put all the songs in 1.44mb storage (A floppy disc), that's one of the reasons the .mid format was chosen, so no, live instruments can't be added to the song, with 1 only exception. You can add voice sing to the song if you want for the .wav .mp3, but you have to translate that to melody in the .mid file
- .mid size: Somebody tells me the wip of the song is making was over 20kb and above 1 minute (something i think is weird, but ok), so by that I'm going to change the max size to 25kb, and if I see more people is struglin by the same problem I'm going to increase the file size again (But that was going to be the last time).
- Soundfonts: For the ones who doesn't know, the .mid file is not a sound file, is more like a "programming language" in some point that the computer reads and play with a library of sounds that the machine has. So... What is the soundfont to use for the jam? There's going to be 2 Soundfonts. One is "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" and the other is the "Beepbox Soundfont". For what I read, these 2 soundfonts are exactly the same, the difference between the microsoft and the beepbox one is that this last one is a "modern version" with an updated song library in some of the samples, but in general is more the same. So if you want to use the correct soundfont, these 2 are Ok.
If anyone have more questions please, put it down here.
Have a good day <3

Last 4 hours to upload your song!
If you think you can't finish your song, upload a WIP before the deadline. I'm gonna download all the WAV files to master the next Wednesday, so you can replace the file before that, the same if you want to make any correction.
Have a good day/afternoon/night <3
PS: Don't forget to put your social links & and your artist name if it's not the same as the user name in itch.io.
hey nyxjn :)
In which way is it unfair? The compilation is not limited to the number of users (only the songs per artist) and there's not a prize or something like that. I think extend the time helps the people who can't join it for the lack of time in they life and the participant artist can re-edit and replace the songs if they want too. So that mate, but please, if you think is unfair tell me in which way to change it to the next jam n.n
Hey People :)
There's a new music jam from Dork Collective, please join it and make some cool music :D
/jam/amen-
Thank you <3
No, I use an app called nanoloop, all the sounds are generated with the app, except the voices and the noise sound in the second song.
There are many ways to make the sound, you can try programs like LSDJ for game boy or just samplin sounds. Little-scale has some really cool samplepacks from the atari 2600 or sega megadrive for free if you're interested. Or, if you want to use the things you have and not download other thing, you can generate a square, saw or triangle wave and add some distortion to the wave, and that generate a sound similar to the old soundchips.
I hope this help you nwn
If you want you cand send me a message to my instagram or bluesky and ask me to any related stuff nwn.

PS: If You have an Instagram, Twitter, Bandcamp account and You want to share it in the compilation, please put it here in the comments.
There's only 24 hours left, and there's really cool works around :)
But well, I came to say 3 things.
- Please, if you want to be part of the compilation, upload the songs in wav format.
- Put your artist name in the name of the song file or in the description. If you don't write your name, I'm gonna take the name of your itch.io account.
- Looking at the number of songs that some artists publish, the maximum number of tracks for the compilation is 2 per artist.
If you don't finish your song yet, good luck M8 ;)
