Going off personal experience with how I had played months ago, but generally buffing and debuffing before attacking is the way to go in this game whether for the Shimmer Guard fights or the other main story boss fights. Attacking normally without setting up first is a bit of a recipe for disaster because your attacks do chip and the enemies hit pretty hard. If you see this, hope it helps.

Just got done with the game, here are some honest thoughts on it. Played via the Itch launcher on Mac. All pros and cons given are my own opinion/experience, and can be disagreed with as such.
Pros
Cute artstyle and characters, relatable plotline/dialogue
Cons
No choices presented in the narrative when the options included skipping choices, awkward options menu experience between laggy sliders and small hitboxes on each option, frame dips throughout, references to the real world felt a bit too on the nose when placed into an object world (like yes object worlds more grounded in reality do exist in the wider OSC, but I have found most of them tend to stay away from referencing things like YouTube, DDR, or Hollow Knight directly by name), moments of awkward prose that stuck out to me, the ending feeling a bit cramped/rushed because Fishbags as a character had a loose end with his character arc imo (he felt more comfortable writing his story while he was with Sticky Note, but does his new confidence stick on his own or is he now overly dependent on Sticky Note to be productive?)
Overall this project shows at least some promise but also has several things to learn from for next time. Hope you find this helpful.
Just got done 100%ing the game, and it was a well made fan game overall. Cammy was the only fight that gave me much trouble lol (he KEPT TARGETING DOWN MIC WHEN I WANTED TO SETUP THE DEBUFF ON HIM) but I got through him. I do wonder if this verse's MePhone is still going to use Season 3 as his vacation or if that season is also going to be on hiatus for the therapy and whatnot...
In any case, I look forward to that next OSC RPG you've mentioned before, because I have a good feeling about how that's going to turn out based on what was delivered here.
Playing the early game of this game made me want to play no uber Battle Cats instead (in Battle Cats you actually get XP and can not only get treasures to get more economy, but also actually upgrade your economy with your XP to make deploying units bearable way faster).
Music: boring out of five
UI: default font out of five
Gameplay: see above paragraph
Final rating: 1/5, couldn't make it to any scrap of good content if there is such a thing here
