It does! Thanks :)

Hey,  thanks for the feedback!

Balancing the amount of text on the screen has been very tricky, considering the wide range of players' abilities.

The tutorial is probably the worst example of this text overload. To help with this issue, it's in the plans to add more levels in between the core tutorial levels so it won't feel like you're reading a book about the game before playing it.

Thanks for playing, hope you had fun!

Hello, sorry you ran into a bug! The rook disappearing surely wasn't intentional.

If you could share what platform you were playing on, and whether it was the browser or the downloadable build, that would help with the issue so the rook won't disappear from any more boards.

Thanks for the feedback!

Hey, thanks for the feedback, and especially for the video!

It was amazing to see how some of the levels were played and how you three interacted with the game!

It was a shame that the knight got the better of yours skills, he was working as intended (I swear)

To defeat the knight, you need to have both brains and brawn, making it a truly difficult fight! I would love to see another attempt at him, especially considering how much fun I had watching the video.

Sending my best to the three of you, I'm glad you gave it a shot.

Thanks for playing!

Although they aren't the top priorities, optimization and more graphics options are definitely being planned.

Thanks for feedback!

Hey there! Q is only meant to be used when a piece ends up on top of you.

The best way to capture the pieces is by bumping into them!

There are some levels where you have to do something first, like defend, so watch out!

You don't need to know how to play chess to solve the puzzles!

ROOKIE features multiple genres distributed across its levels, ranging from puzzles and rhythm to boss fights, so balancing them all can be tricky.

Play it in your browser or download the game here: https://rookiechess.itch.io/demo

Every piece of feedback, suggestion, and idea is appreciated, so please feel free to speak your mind!

You can skip or return to any level by holding F3 and pressing or on your keybord. (You can use K instead of F3 if needed )

Here are some feedback points that will be really helpful and deeply appreciated if answered:

  • 1. Puzzle Difficulty: Are the puzzles balanced, or did they feel too frustrating?
  • 2. Mechanics: How did you feel about the genres switching ? How was the pacing of the switches, jarring or good ?
  • 3. Rhythm Levels: Was the movement pattern of the pieces in the rhythm levels smooth to get a handle on, or did you have trouble with it?
  • 4. Highlights: What did you enjoy the most? What would you like to see more of?
  • 5. Boss Fights (If applicable):
  • How many did you fought?
  •  Was the difficulty of the fight fun?
  • How long did it feel like it took for you to beat it or give up?
  • Did you find the encounter interesting and exciting, or was it unappealing?
  • 6. Platforms: Would you (or someone you know) be interested in playing this game on mobile, steam deck or other?
  • 7. Full Release: Would you be interested in a full version of the game? How much would you be willing to pay for it (in your local currency)?
  • 8. Technical:  Did you run into any bugs, glitches, or moments where the controls felt unresponsive or broken? If it happened during a level, please submit its name if possible, which can be found by pressing Ctrl + F3

You can support the project by rating, commenting, or financially contributing via the link found at the demo page.

Thanks for your time, and good luck on the board! (You will need it)
