This is absolutely fantastic, what a bizarro and painfully contemporary idea. Your writing style suits this concept perfectly. You truly had me on the edge of my seat. Also – big props for the sound design, those bitcrushed clicking/whirring noises were terrifying. I haven’t enjoyed a VN this much in a long while, thank you for sharing!

this is hot, thank you. will be using this for noise jam 4 <3

Dude thank you, I really appreciate it. I’m glad you saw the vision wholeheartedly! I love your work and can’t wait to see what you do next. For some reason I feel like you’d do a Columbian Exposition deck some justice? Niche market I know but I love Chicago history

emo 4 lyfe <(-_-)>

thank you so much, i really appreciate your kind words and i’m doubly glad you had fun :) that’s the goal!

thank you so much!! everyone should get to live vicariously as a dirtbag every once in awhile :P

i recommend printing it out 3x5 for any and all wallets you may own, maybe even make one of those little “i lost my dog” or “i want to start a band”-type tear off posters with the phrase and pin it up at your local beverage depot

Totally understand. I’ll keep an eye out for updates >:)

Goddamn this is sick. A24 needs to bill you for a Lighthouse sequel made in Decker. Would you be able to upload the .deck file at some point? I like to save offline copies of Decks I enjoy :)

I want to know how to render widget(s) individually. >:)

oh this is incredible, thank you for sharing! One of my favorite color palettes I’ve ever seen used in Decker. And the alchemy scroll is just pure magic, I love it. :)

Thank you, Mr. Janitor! Appreciate you checking it out :)

They’re all good results :P

i <3 the ozarks

Wow this was so fun! I’m gonna need you to build out a full Mystlike ASAP, thank you :) The inside of the cube was so beautiful!

Hey, so super easy to accomplish! It’s literally just an invisible button you’re clicking on, laid over the bounds of an image widget. If you wanna see how it works, you can download the .deck file :)

when i grow up, i want to become a century-old Y2Kologist

Hell yeah, it’s a banger. That’s the choice I got, too :)

this shit is awesome, i’m glad junglism lives on.. and now it’s in my favorite program!

I love this so much. Thank you for putting me on to such an interesting topic! I will definitely be returning to assemble more scenes. Enjoy this very hip, very modern piece of contemporary American culture:

this is why god (darpa) made the internet thanks

this shit rules thank you, ttrpgs are cancelled from now on this one wins the game

Hey IJ, sorry to bump this.. but is there a secret hidden shortcut for creating an outline around a selection?

I want a Decker mousepad

no fucking way, this rules!

For example, in my current project, I’m using a lot of sounds and prototypes. For the sounds especially, it is hard to identify what I’ve imported/used/can get rid of simply because I have to scroll up and down trying to find that particular filename.

This is mostly because I’m a fanatic and will re-edit sounds if they’re too loud or the loop isn’t quite right.. so even though I organize all my filenames before import, they still end up out of order if I delete/re-import a re-edited sound because they’re plopped back down to the bottom of the list. Does this make sense?

Hey there IJ,

Would you ever consider adding a feature that would let us sort Sounds/Resources/etc alphabetically when looking at the modals for each?

That’s so cute!! Thank you for sharing. I think Decker sounds like a great introduction to programming.

Sweet! I’ve added these into the cheatsheet and updated this post.

Hi all. I’m a spreadsheet-oriented girly, so I felt the Decker reference was desperately missing a “shortcuts” cheatsheet. I made this for my own usage, but maybe it’ll help somebody else better visualize the shortcuts available for use in Decker and when to use them:

I’ve also exported a print-friendly .pdf version, which you can download here.

Cheers!

Thank you, Mr. Janitor! I always appreciate more shortcut/hotkey-type features. It’s a big time saver.

I’m making a personality quiz in Decker and am wanting to implement a “Share Your Results” button that takes a screenshot of the current card window, as-is, and save it to a .gif file. Additionally, I would like the file autonamed to the “CardName.gif” if possible.

I tried to research the concept and apply some ideas, but didn’t get any functional results. I dug through the Lil documentation, in addition to the Decker help modules, and couldn’t find anything relevant to what I was trying to accomplish. I’ve been trying so hard to understand the language under the hood in this program, but I still just don’t get it from reading the documentation. I remembered Millie Squilly’s zine template does a similar thing, but I felt the script in that Deck was way too complex for what I’m trying to do. I also tried to analyze the “Export” function in Wigglypaint and struggled to understand how it functions.

I feel like I’ve hit a wall in trying to figure this out. Can anyone help me get something working?

:(

I don’t know how i’ve never stumbled across this before, as a self-proclaimed decker slut. this is absolutely fantastic. a “neverhood” for the modern age. maybe the GOAT deck

I’ll admit this made me feel bad about myself for participating in such a culture.. but then I remembered: there will be a killer shoving match and domestic dispute at my estate sale when I am inevitably worm food.

You never miss, Mr. Janitor! 18 kilobytes never looked (or sounded) so good.

idk but i need to finish it :P

I actually went through and triple-checked the properties of the contraption with the one in your deck. I couldn’t find any differences in scripting or properties.. I even re-imported it and purged the old ones. I am utterly confused! I will have to come back to this tomorrow and see if I can figure out what’s going wrong.

I appreciate your help, as always.
