v1_10 Launched

Significantly Updated graphics. Some demo sounds, still need to figure out good sound for the game

You can play it on phone, but it is not super optimized for it. That is the next step :)

Hey all! I've been building False Negative, a browser platformer, and it's reached the point where I need fresh eyes on it.

Playable Link: 🎮 Play it (free, in the browser): https://scare32222.itch.io/false-negative

Platform: Browser

Description: You play as a sentient AI crossing a series of worlds to track down and shut off a rogue AI that has taken over the city's systems. Each world is its own district, and the systems in it are actively working against you.

Free to Play Status:

  • Free to play

The core of the game is traps, and lots of different kinds of them!!

What's done

  • 20 levels across 2 worlds:
    • Signal Districts (levels 1–10): a neon city. Birthplace of the AI with the objective to reach the safehouse.
    • Industrial District (levels 11–20): an abandoned works which holds a key
  • Core loop: Keep trying till you succeed :)
  • Gauntlet mode: all 20 levels in one run, with 5 lives for the whole thing - extremely difficult in my opinion. My best run till date for 20 levels is with 100 deaths. I cannot imagine someone doing it under 5
  • Controls: keyboard, plus touch controls on phones (play in landscape).

What's still to come

  • Story: the narrative is in my mind, but it isn't in the game yet. Right now it's pure gameplay.
  • Music and sound: there's no audio at all yet.
  • Polish: visual effects, menus, and difficulty tuning - I would love feedback on this
  • More worlds: the plan goes well beyond two districts.

What I'd love feedback on

  1. Difficulty: where did you rage-quit, or come close? Which levels felt unfair rather than hard?
  2. Readability: did you understand what each trap would do before it killed you? If a trap felt like it came out of nowhere, that's a bug to me.
  3. Favourite and least favourite level, and why.
  4. Controls
  5. Most Importantly - Would you keep playing if it had story and music, or is something bigger missing?
