We did not have an Algonquian person or cultural consultant involved in creating the module. However, we were aware of issues involving the wendigo’s misrepresentation in other media, and we tried hard to research and represent it in a more faithful manner while also trying to interpret how such a creature would fit into a science fiction setting. For example, wendigos are often depicted in modern stories as having antlers or deer heads, or as being animalistic and mindless. Traditional wendigos do not have antlers, and are often capable of intelligence, and we depicted the one in our module as such.

I really like the map generator, and I think both the story hooks are well written! I feel that if I were to run this crawl though, I would have trouble coming up with interesting content after a certain point, even with the tables provided. With six to fifteen rooms on each floor, and at least a few floors to go through, the tables will be exhausted before long, especially if you try to run the challenging version of the crawl. I also feel that tailoring the content of the tables to better represent the writing in the story hooks would help GMs to weave a cohesive narrative.

The writing does a good job of describing each of the locations on the map, and there are some pretty strong images to be found in the adventure, my favorite being the giant skull! I appreciate that atmosphere and tension are built entirely through the environment at first, rather than introducing combat or enemies too early. My main issue though is that the adventure feels too linear, and it may make players feel like their choices are unimportant if the only real choice to progress most of the time is to just move further forward.
