Hi Daniel,

Thanks a lot, this is exactly what I needed!

  • Missing the button that starts the turn.
  • Plants without character.

Both clear problems I can adapt.

Good luck with your game too! 👍

Hi everyone!

Rootbound is a small plant roguelite that runs in the browser: https://wanksolution.itch.io/rootbound

You pick 4 plants, drag them into line, and they fight pests on their own. You spend Sun on a few helping hands. A map has 4 fights and takes about 10 minutes. It needs a desktop browser, with mouse, keyboard or gamepad.

What I'd like to know:

  1. Where did you stop playing, and why?
  2. Was it clear what Sun and the helping hands (Water, Mulch, Wither) do?
  3. Did the order of your plants feel like it mattered?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for playing!

The Plain is rotting. King Rot sleeps under his old pear tree, and his pests are eating the farm. Your garden is all that stands in the way.

Play it here: https://wanksolution.itch.io/rootbound

How it plays:

  • Keep a garden of up to 8 plants across runs.
  • Pick 4 before each map and drag them into line. Who stands in front matters.
  • Plants and pests fight on their own turns. You spend Sun on a few helping hands.
  • Win Leaves, raise plants to level 3, and choose their perks.
  • Every map you win pushes the rot back on the world map. Five maps end at King Rot's tree.

It runs in a desktop browser with mouse, keyboard or gamepad. A map takes a few minutes.

This is an early build, and you would be among its first players. Each run sends me a log of the fights and choices, with no personal data. The title screen says so too.

What I most want to know: where did you stop playing, and why? Please tell me in a comment on the game page.
