I really really like this game! The customization of your loadout, the variety of allies, and this is the first type of these games in AWHILE that has actually CHALLENGED me to use my wits, my strategy and my creativity to actually beat all the encounters I've gotten to the very end and I can say, whilst there were many moments I felt something may be impossible, I always found a way by mixing and matching my team composition to get the win. (Elke is my MVP I have to admit)
Additionally, I love the concept that the hero ISN'T the most overpowered in the party. That she's just weak and frail to begin with, but by making your own custom build, you can either turn her into an ultimate support, an epic battle mage or a gambling flirt. It's a really cool spin on the classic that I really appreciate.
The characters are also nice and lively, and I appreciate all the choices you can make to get to know specific people better and how those choices, for now, seem to all matter to some degree. It really makes me feel in control of the story and I love that aspect allot.
I do have a few suggestions however, that aren't vital to the game's success, but I think could help it regardless:
1. A nude option, maybe? Like an option where you tell the demon you absolutely refuse to wear any of these and all you want is normal decent clothes, and maybe you even attack her if you're stubborn enough, where after that you'd get punished by being forced to go out naked, unable to wear anything else. It could be an extra hard way of playing the game, for those perverts who want the main character to feel fully shamed. Or maybe it could have some sort of dodge-based stats that makes you harder to hit? Either way, I know this would be hard to add, because it'd mean adding new dialogue for almost every single scene, so I don't expect it, but I think it could be cool.
2. I would like to se just a liiiiittle bit more consequence to who you pick when you want to spend time with someone. Like, spending time with someone equates to half a level for that person, and if you spend time with them twice, they gain an extra level. Because right now, their level is tied to you, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense lore wise, but I don't think that should be removed. It's just, having this extra level so to say for the characters you love most emphasises the importance of who you choose and makes them feel more separate from the heroes growth, which is already a powerful theme in the game that I like.
3. Just a little note: Maybe clarify at the dodge or block portion which is which gender for those not skipping the start? I had to restart the full cutscenes cause I ended up being a boy, and skipping brought me further than where I left off.
4. I see allot of comments about the difficulty, which I can honestly understand. If you get unlucky in too many fights and do one wrong step, sometimes, you can completely be soft locked by your own demise, which I narrowly avoided a couple of times, but I understand that others couldn't do so as well. So perhaps just a difficulty setting? Like, this difficulty is "normal" and there could be an easier difficulty that makes things a bit more relax. Enemies do less damage and have less HP, that kind of stuff. I don't think you really need a harder difficulty though, this is already very limit on how hard a game can be before it's not enjoyable.
5. Just a small bug report:
- At the spider boss, after you defeat it, if instead of going straight you go a square left, it makes you redo the entire fight. Had that happen to me, so I had to restart.
- There's a few walls around the maps that don't have proper collision. I can't name exact ones, but I think a touch up on the hitboxes is due just to make the game feel more polished. But of course, I understand WHY it's not perfect, this is still a very new game.
