Thanks!  Adding Lyric with the advantage card did it.  It was fighting Vomammoths near the Tower of Babil.  Even with every item booster possible it still took a while for it to drop.  I was almost starting to think it was bugged.

There’s also a rare steal from a monster-in-box (Raiden) I think either in the Tower of Babil or the following Genesis Obelisk.  It lets a red mage use Ultima… very useful

Not listed in the included gamefaq list of steals.

Does anyone know how to get this?  I’ve been fighting Vamammoths in the arctic region near the Tower of Babel and trying to steal (only gives Arctic wind) or get as a drop.  No drop even with Kumoggo’s Jewel (increases item drop rate).

Also spoilers below for some other rare items I found:

- Lustrous Pearls: steal from fairy enemy in the tangle area where you fight one of the elemental guardians.  SW part of map in merged world.

- Adamantium Ore: drop from one of the enemies in Temple Kasion

Pure Nethicite: chest reward in Tower of Babel

Megaelixir: steal from dragon enemy in Temple Kasion

Golden Apple: steal from enemy in the forest outside of the tangle area mentioned above
