Description
Anamnesis of Self follows an adult protagonist trapped in a severe and numbing negative mental stillness. It explores the fragility bridging a vibrant past, fractured self and opaque future, while this person tries to recall and reconstruct themselves again from sparse, buried memories.

Anamnesis: psychological process of recalling deep truths or hidden experiences.

The narrative unfolds from the journey opening to a vivid look at childhood, when the world was vast and felt like an adventurous fantasy filled with limitless passion. On to the stagnant reality of depersonalization and routine where their senses dissolve to nothingness. Seeking escape, their mind retreats to a nostalgic memory of wandering through peaceful fields before the manifestation of their fears lunges from the dark. They are forced to confront a distorted duplicate of their self staring out behind a wall of visual snow the more they plunge into their own psyche. The battle ends with a harsh return to the physical reality once more as the protagonist wakes up, left with pieces of a memory that start the reflection all again.

Genres - Orchestral mostly, one track is Botanica and another is a Solo Piano piece played by Vortex.

The tracks represent, in order:
Main Theme
Flashback Cutscene
Level / Field theme
Boss Fight Climax
Ending / Credits theme

We first started brainstorming ideas for what we want to interpret "songs of a forgotten world" as, from decayed fantasy worlds to forgotten fictional "worlds" IRL
We landed on the forgotten world of a persons "childhood", or memories.
After that, we thought of what types of tracks the game could have, and divided up the roles in the team.
Perssi and Salmon each took on the most important songs of the soundtrack, while Vortex improvised an ending song using three major "motifs" from the various tracks, as well as mixing and mastering everything (in 5 hours at 3am mind you).

Also Vortex wrote poems for every track for some reason.

Vortex and Perssi used FL Studio 2026
SliceofSalmon used Musecore

Also we had a friend named Ku "Kurei" Rei assist us with naming the tracks and writing the description above

Message from the artist
Hey there, Vortex here. Very happy to be participating in this jam again, its always a blast to take on this challenge even despite the immense stress I put myself through during the week... all 3 of us are very very happy with how everything turned out, although I personally planned to make my piano piece way longer, I ran out of time........

The Intro song is so so beautiful and the following tracks just stack onto the great first impression. You can tell that different people worked on the soundtrack, but that just makes it more diverse and creative. Slice of Salmon had amazing piano parts in the beginning and middle, Perssi brought such a cool sounddesign and new sounds into the album and Vortex closed it off with a super pretty and melancholy piece. I hope you 3 had a great time despite the stress, you all write breathtaking piano parts. Well done team!

I love how majestically the track sounds. Furthermore, I love the piano melodies the most in "When the World was Ours".  And the string instruments in "Catharsis of the Past, Self and Future"

Moreover, not to mention the sound design. I loved the clock at the start of "Found in Absence"

The people who worked on the project deserves all the praise they get.

Beautiful writing and sound design! I especially enjoyed the piano in "When the World was Ours" and "Catharsis of the Past, Self and Future." I can totally see these songs in rhythm games. All the compositions were so interesting throughout, congrats on submitting such well written works!! :)
