Description
I made a single 3 minute celtic/folk track, my inspiration was mostly skyrim and zelda, my process was first finding instruments that I thought fitted the theme, then working on chord progressions to set the mood (mysterious but whimsical) and then working on melodies and filling space in.

Theme

Songs of a Forgotten World
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I chose both the picture and the phrase as themes, that's why I tried to go for both mysterious (forgotten world) and whimsical (the picture), and that's why I chose celtic instruments and overall feel.

ambient music sound nice

This is a really nice track, I listened to it a few times. I see you mentioned you ran out of time but, regardless, this works very well as an ambient piece. I can see this being the music during an exploration section of a game, and it's got that mystery and darkness interwoven with youth and innocence, which is a great blend. If you wanted to add more movement in the future you can even just lay a freeform melody over it, it makes for a really good base too.

Overall very charming, and you did a great job.

thank you so much for the kind words! that's pretty much the blend I went for, yes. I'm so glad it landed, I listened to your entry as well and I have to say it is top of the line, I absolutely loved it. good luck with the jam and God bless!

I love the use of acoustic instruments in this and I really like how ethereal it feels

Developer

thanks! I made a point to go at least mostly acoustic to use the jam as an opportunity to challenge myself, and ethereal was the goal, too, I appreciate the recognition!

Good job overall. The mix is on the quiet side and could be raised overall to be more present.

Developer

you're right, it did turn out a little bit quiet, thanks for the feedback and I did hear yours, too. great job!

I really enjoyed the soothing and impressionistic nature of your composition and ensemble. It felt wonderful to be able to kind of float along with the tune. Great work!

Developer

thank you so much! I'm really impressed with your entry, too. it feels so thought out, like an OST for an actual game, well done and God bless!

This is very nice! The pluck sounds and the wind and strings come together to make a really nice and calming sound. My only bit of feedback is that if this piece were to have more of a musical exploration or journey it would be even better. Great work overall and I really quite enjoyed this!
