Description
A very early 90's style of video game soundtrack along with the PSX style graphics in the cover image gives a feeling of ps1 and n64 era video games. The game itself is a fantasy souls-like about fairy knights. I used musescore to write the music and ableton for some editing.
"Imagine yourself born a fairy named Lydia, a knight to the goddess of the fae, Bandia. You've known all your life that your purpose is to act at the will of your goddess, and you've known nothing otherwise. That is until you start noticing the environment around you start falling apart at the seams: the trees are dying, the animals act strange and aggressive, and some are even growing larger than they should. You start to hear birdcalls and strange whistling in the winds that sound like a forgotten melody from your childhood, one your mother used to sing to you. You decide it must be your goddess calling to you to help save these creatures from whatever evil now haunts these woods. That is unless... the creatures themselves are calling to you to save them from their own creator?"
The first track is the first boss fight in the game, the theme for Loch Péirse (Lake Perch) and the battle with the King Perch (the one in the cover art).
The second track is the theme for the Glenbandia (or Valley of the Goddess) Woods. Notice the same theme for the goddess hidden in this track as well
The third track, Contact with the Goddess, is the music that plays when you first meet the goddess, as you are overwhelmed by her kind nature that seems to... take a turn during your conversation
The fourth track, Fae to the Goddess, is the title theme for the game, featuring instruments in every other track as well as themes of the Goddess and the main character Lydia
The fifth track, Bandia, is a piano and pan flute rendition of the goddess' main theme and melody
The sixth track, Lydia, is a piano and pan flute rendition of the Lydia's main theme and melody
Message from the artist
Thanks for listening!
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
The themes of fantastical faeries and goddesses fit well already, but in addition to that the instrumentation is particularly plucky and woody, made to sound like traditional instruments. The premise of the game also lies in a literal forgotten melody in an already fairytale time period.

crazy how much you can make in 1 week very nice sound track indeed
love the aesthetic, very very nostalgic and masterfully executed! absolute banger submission!
So cool, really sound like ocarina of time (so later than PS1 but you get it) by moment ! You can make it even better with more automation, especially on lead and melo, but I'm nitpicking. The sounds work well together, the ambiance is immaculate. GG !
I think you’ve got a really great set of very game-like songs here which, given the sound libraries you chose, provide a sort of timeless ambience vibe for the listener. Given the theme reprises at the end, looping through the music feels quite natural. The themes also blend very harmoniously into each other, from track to track, giving a great unity feel to the work. It’s a very sound game OST :)
You really nailed the nostalgic sound of older videogame soundtracks, great instrument selection, well done!
Thank you!!
I really enjoyed this soundtrack! Maybe I'm a little biased given I'm a huge fan of both souls-likes and retro soundtracks, but these are excellent pieces and you've done a great job capturing the sound of the PSX era. Loch Péirse and the title theme were the stand out tracks for me for the way they told a story through the music and the beautiful sense of harmony that reminded me of classic JRPGs like Chrono Trigger. Great job!
Thank you so much, I'm glad you liked it! and thank you for the chronotrigger comparison, I'm very inspired by that soundtrack
i love that part in Loch Péirse when the arpeggio starts playing... goshh, felt like i was ascending. Contact with the Goddess is a nice track too
i thought the rest of the soundtrack sounded a little too repetitive though with its limited sound selection
I'm glad you liked it and thanks for the feedback, I definitely spent the most time with Loch Péirse so that makes sense lol
good soundtrack, nothing else to say
Thanks!
Looooooove old PS/of that era soundtracks. Really nice!
Thank you so much!
I'm a sucker for older sounding soundtracks so I enjoyed listening to this one! There are some nice ideas here compositionally and it was fun to read through your project page as the tracks played out. I’d say I agree with some of the feedback another commenter left, ALTHOUGH it wasn’t anything that took away from my listening experience. Great work!
Thank you!
I hear the vision for this one, I really like the flow of the story. Levels are somewhat mismatched and theres a roughness to the samples sometimes.
Thanks for the reply! I had planned on doing quite a lot more mixing in Ableton before posting but I completely ran out of time to do both that and sleep lol
