Description
Without music, magic is rapidly fading from the fae woods. However, there are songs forgotten by time, carved into the trees in the deepest parts of the woods, the parts that you are forbidden from entering. However, desperate times call for desperate measures, and you've gotta do what you've gotta do. You must travel deep into the woods, facing dangers and perils long since forgotten, and bring music back to the fae woods.

Our soundtrack is a mix of orchestral songs with folky, ambient elements. We wanted to capture the mystical folky elements with the use of harps and choirs, which make appearances in all three tracks. We also experimented with different time signatures and odd chord progressions to capture this otherworldly, alien feeling. The first track, Journey into the Darkness, has an upbeat rock drum groove that signifies the hopefullness at the start of the adventure, which the drum and choir bridge of the song signifing the dangers that await. The second track, Alien Woods, is an ambient, otherworldly, and kind of creepy track, giving the player the feeling that they are in a complelety foreign and alien part of the woods that they thought they knew well. The final track, the Eyes of Time, is a dark and meloncholic orchestral song, marking the player's arrival at the oldest and darkest center of the woods.

Message from the artist
Thanks for listening! We're glad that we found the time to participate again in one of Lone Rabbit's jams, and we hope to do lots more!

Theme

Songs of a Forgotten World
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The image inspired us with the idea for the game, and we used the folky instruments from the image in our compositions. A "forgotten world" conjures ideas of alien soundscapes and mysteries, which we incorporated into our songs.

Really cool stuff! I love the mix of orchestral and rock sounds, especially in journey into the darkness.

Nice ambiental work putting the listener in a mysterious and ethereal mood. Some comments about each track (please don't take my criticism too harsh, as I really like your work and this is just my opinion with the intention of being constructive and helping you improve):

Journey Into The Darkness:

- I found strings panned to the left lacking something on the right to balance them. I also have some issues with the sound palette, with the strings sounding a bit harsh and the drum kit a bit out of place. Maybe some automation to the strings or EQ could make the sound richer, and the drum kit could be modified or layered with other sounds to make it sound more "otherworldly" and less like a standard rock studio drum kit.

Alien Woods:

Great sense of mystery and anticipation. From 3:44 it is awesome. I love the minimalistic usage of contrast between just bass lines and silence to create drama, and this is a fantastic example of just that. The synth pads with piano line is also great afterwards as a reprisal of the theme exposed at the beginning of the song.

Eyes of Time:

Short but sweet ending piece. I really like how you created a subtle build-up until the melody is more present, and the closing bells are a nice touch.

Great job at creating a dark and moody setting with your pieces, with subtle changes keeping all the pieces interesting during all the listening experience.

Cool tracks! The instrumentation that you used made me think about maplestory, especially in "Journey into the Darkness."

Love the tracks.

Great job! I really liked the use of panning and the avant-garde-ness of the second track, and the bells in the third. Some small points I have is that the second track doesn't really give a feeling of 'going somewhere' which I think it should have. Otherwise, amazing job and really great acoustic ambient tracks!
