Well itch ate my post so I quickly retype:

I had fun with this one. I think the difficulty ramp for the waves could have been a little steeper. I think it was fine as I was getting upgrades but after that I kind of wanted it to get harder quicker. I played through mostly using the rubber band gun but did waves 34-38 with melee only and then did a few with the stapler when I noticed I could swap guns. Art was really good. I like the animations and VFX for the enemies.

Thanks for the game

Developer

Woah, Wave 41! That's a pretty good run - I'm glad you had a bit of fun with our game - thank you for giving it a try. There was sooo much more we wanted to do, but the time just didn't allow it.

First of all, wow, that art style is really clean and works well with this game - nicely done. Second, well done on making a complete game in a single week, very nice. FPS is not normally my jam but I powered through two dozen levels of this game... woot! I also liked that the projectiles on both sides were slow enough to dodge, and yet still felt really satisfying in the throwing.

The primary thing I would want is a little more balance - I'm a horrible FPS player, but even I found the first dozen levels pretty easy. If it were me, I'd experiment with dropping the HP of the early level foes, but increasing their damage by a bit. You might want to check on the pathing as well, as there were a couple times that groups of foes seemed to be stuck behind a cluster of rocks or trees and they didn't unstick until you came around and shot them. Lastly, hiding behind cover seems to be way too rewarding for the player, maybe add an enemy that is a fast moving melee that will flush them from cover? or enemy grenades that will force a player to move before they explode? You're the devs, I'm sure you'll think of something.

Oh, there was a loading hitch the first time you hit an enemy... I suspect if you pre-load/use the shader before the combat portion of the game starts that should eliminate that.

Developer

Thank you for playing our game and for your valuable feedback, we'll make sure to take it into account if we can get around to refining the game.

Very nice level of polish. Played a few rounds and was pleased when the shop appeared and I could upgrade. After that things got a bit repetitive but I'm not sure what else I should expect for a week long game jam!

Beautiful graphics and the 2d and 3d is really well blended.

Solid effort!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words - we are aware it gets a bit repetitive - as you mention a result of our time constraints. We might see if we can add a bit more variation in the future. We had planned boss-fights, more weapons, enemies and power-ups, but at the end had to cut some stuff to make it in time.

Really fun game. The billboard art fits very well together with the 3d environment. The polishment here was extremly high and it was fun to play. I played until wave 33. The audio was also nice and silly and supported the game pretty well. Good job to the team!

Developer

Thanks! Glad it was fun :) Lots of waves!

Great job! A very polished and well made game!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Great you enjoyed it!

I love this game! It is extremely polished, has amazing visuals, runs surprisingly smoothly in the browser and has some nice sound effects! However, there's still some room for improvements.

Firstly, I believe you went with something like DOOM, right? But not being able to move the camera up or down is kinda annoying in my opinion. Also, I wish the aim (the transparent dot in the center of the screen) was more visible, I find it kinda difficult to aim, and the bullet spread doesn't help with that.

Anyways, you managed to come up with something really good for this jam and I think this game has high chances of winning!

Developer(+1)

Thankyou! We wanted to keep the scope with up/down as it’s a bit trickier but thanks for the feedback :)

Developer

Really appreciate your feedback - we went all oldskool Wolfenstein only allowing the left right camera movement, this helped us time wise to focus more on the other mechanics, and get away with our billboard 2D enemies. We'll gather all feedback from here and see which parts we can improve on. Thanks again for giving our game a play!

Fun game! I made it to round 50 to see if it would break in any way and it's too polished for that. if you're open to some feedback this is a game that could use a drop shadow under the enemies so i can track where they are better. I could also say that the bullet spread was pretty high for the machine gun and somewhat high for the shotgun. I love the art Direction on this game, great stuff.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the game! 50 waves would have been hard, I die too much from 20s lol. Thanks for the feedback!

This was amazing! It's a nice combination of 2D and 3D!  It seemed really polished. I had a bit of trouble seeing where I was aiming. 10/10 though!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for your praise! I'll take a note on the aiming indicator, see if we can make it a little more obvious.

The graphics look super clean and charming. It's nice that there were multiple different levels.

The upgrades actually felt impactful, and  getting new weapons was cool.

Developer

Thank you for testing our game, and for the nice feedback - hopefully we can do even more after this Jam.

This was awsome mate! The music is slick!

Developer

Cheers! Thanks for giving our game a play!

Really enjoyed this! Art, audio and theme are great. I thought the controls were easy to pick up. The AI projectile trajectory could be a bit off at times, but I'm sure this could be enhanced if needed. The level of difficulty was just right.

Developer

Thank you! I know our devs put a lot of effort into  trying to balance the game - more can always be done, but it'll require time. Happy you enjoyed the experience.

Super well done, I loved the art style!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the game and our quirky characters.

I played until level 25! :D

If I understand correctly, the enemy tries to predict my direction to attack. If I'm moving left, it fires further to my left instead of directly at my current position, correct? I had the impression that the shot is going too far to the side, perhaps the adjustment should be smaller or take into account the average movement of the last few seconds instead of just the current movement (although I know that doing this is a little more complicated). I say this because sometimes I would adjust my character to the side and the enemy would shoot towards the wall, and the greater the distance between us, the more visible this difference was.

Another thing is that enemies absorb bullets from other enemies, I think it would be more interesting if this wasn't the case, as it would make the level a little more chaotic and difficult.

Other than that, super creative and fun. I loved the art and the sfx. Congrats!

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback - I'll let the devs answer, concerning the enemy bullet trajectory as I have no clue what they've done! And well done reaching level 25!

Developer (1 edit)

The projectile predicts where it hits based on velocity, so if the player is holding moving or stationary the projectile will hit - made them a bit stronger instead of just stationary the location from the AI

OK, finally got around to playing this and it’s great! The only browser performance problem I saw was a stutter when (I think) a particle effect is first used. Otherwise, very smooth gameplay performance. The music, art and juice are fantastic and all very polished. Superb entry!

I was surprised controllers don’t seem to work… still, didn’t affect the fun.

Developer(+1)

Happy you got around to testing our little game - Thank you!

The stutter is a know issue we'll be trying to address. Concerning using game controllers, we had that up and running at some point, but think we cut back to ensure compatibility on all platforms for the Jam.

I really enjoyed playing.  Really liked the 2D and 3D mix. The animations and sound effects were amazing. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for playing :)

Enjoyed playing-especially once I got the staple shotgun- and I'm impressed at the art/animations, great work!

Developer

The staple shotgun and rubber band gatling gun definitively adds to the experience! Thank you for playing, and the kind words concerning the visuals.

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! i got to round 17, the stapler and rubber band guns are awesome!! would love to see some stationary themed boss battles if this were to continue development!

Developer

Thank you for your feedback, and well done making it that far, glad you liked our selection of weapons.

Concerning boss battles, we had planned to have the coffee mug as a boss, but just ran out of time to do it properly.

Submitted(+1)

Very silly little game. I kinda wish I could keep buying upgrades from the shop instead of it running out :( I wanted INFINITE DAMAGE

Developer

Me too! Me too.

Just realized I didn't say but I loved it, it was really well made!

The web build is unplayable for me, I'm glad I tried the desktop version. Fantastic game, the style, the graphics and the audio is so much fun, nice take on the theme. Very well done, strong contender for the jam.

Developer

Thank you for giving our game a second chance by getting the desktop version, and sorry to hear the web build didn't work for you - was this playing full screen? Would you be able to tell us which browser and system you used?

Really happy you enjoyed the experience otherwise.

Submitted (1 edit)

I was playing on the browser window, the game would not go to full screen, the problem is related to mouse capture, if the game window was focused and the mouse captured, then mouse sensitivity would skyrocket to ludicrous speed :), if the window would lose focus (by pressing escape) then the mouse movement would be somewhat fixed. I also have a multi-screen setup, I don't know if that could contribute to the problem. I'm using Firefox on Linux and KDE Plasma as DE.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback, highly appreciated! We'll keep note of it, and see if its something we can fix our end.
