Clever concept. I could definitely imagine spending time with this game on my old Nokia.

Would love to see this built upon (new tiles, mechanics, etc). Very cool idea!

This is a very nice concept. Somehow my first word ended up being "shit" haha. I really enjoyed it albeit it's very hard for me. Maybe without the limitations of the nokia. Great submission!

Nice submission.
Even if I’m not too good with this kind of games (I’m not a native English speaker) I enjoyed playing your game. I only wish the game shows more than one piece in advance so I can try to build longer words.
Good job on your game.

The concept works well! I found it quite challenging, but that’s probably also because I’m not a native English speaker. I'm curious to know how did you come up with the list of possible words?

Submitted

I share this feeling too, but I believe it should be fun for those who have a notion, the game seems to be very well built too

Thanks for your question! I went ahead and found a list of English words onine. From there, I just wrote a python script that filtered for 4 letter words, and then saved the output as a JSON file. I did some manually adjusting to add missing words that some of my friends who play tested found, after.

It's not easy for me, but combining Tetris with Scrabble is a really cool idea. I like when developers try new game concepts.

Tetris combined with Scrabble—what a great idea! Awesome game!

Incredibly innovative idea :D

This game is well done - although I can't spell very fast apparently :)
It was fun - the exclamation marks helped but eventually I just had a mess of letters :D

Got confused at first on what was the theme xd, but avter getting it right it was a nice game!

I swear Fark is a word! Nice game.

If I ever expand this I'll be sure to add it haha! Thank you for playing!

I liked the game, the graphics, theme and mechanics were very good. I will definitely return to the game later with more calm

This is a cool little tetris-like! Spelling 4 letter words is a little tough. The slight gap between pixels is effective to sell the 90s LCD look. Music would go a long way, even if you used the classic Tetris theme. The hard lock to the glyph grid is a bit jarring, it would look much nicer if you animated each step of 8 pixels. 8 pixels is also pretty large on such a tiny screen, You could probably get away with 6 using a 5-pixel high font - that would give you a much taller chute to drop glyphs. Very cool.

Developer

Thank you for the really thoughtful feedback. I never considered I could've gone 6x6 on the grid, that would've opened up my options considerably. I also thought there's no way I could've composed worthwhile music with a single sound channel, but a lot of the other submissions here definitely proved me wrong. Thank you again!
