Genre: N/A
Inspiration: Although the music I made isn't similar to it, the game idea is heavily inspired by Attack On Titan (I'm addicted to aot rn).
Game: Luftsoldat is a top down shooter but you can harness the ability of flight and control it with grappling hooks. Fly, grapple, and shoot your way to freedom as you lead an army against the axis powers. Use your powerful AAPG (anchored aerial propulsion gear) to gain a combative advantage against soldiers below and airships above. Invade multiple countries with your wit and join your soldiers in the battlefield as an aerial soldier.
Lore: Luftsoldat takes place in an alternate universe where Germany didn't betray Russia in WW2, allowing the axis to win the war. Almost all of the world's countries were annexed or wiped out by the axis powers. To avoid losing their last drop of independence, the remaining allied countries banded together to create advanced technology that would rival and even exceed the axis's powerful weaponry. This led to the creation of "anchored aerial propulsion gear" or AAPG for short, a suit that consists of a powerful 3 direction jetpack (up, left, and right), and two highly customizable guns that have "rope anchors" (grappling hooks that reel the user in and allow the user to orbit around a point using their jetpack) attached to them. AAPG users, or aerial soldiers, were the key to pushing back against the axis and reobtaining freedom.
Tracks:
Mr. Ultimate - Luftsoldat: Main theme of the game, plays in the main menu.
Mr. Ultimate - Command Room: Music that plays during the strategic map parts of the game.
Mr. Ultimate - One Man Army: Main combat theme that plays when your army has the advantage during a battle.
Mr. Ultimate - Carri Armati e Fanteria (Tanks and Footmen): Combat theme that plays when the enemy army has the advantage during a battle.
Mr. Ultimate - Hikōsen no gekitsui (Airship Takedown): Combat theme that plays when you are attacking an airship with your AAPG.
Mr. Ultimate - Endkampf (Final Front): Combat theme when a battle takes place in a country's capital.

DAW: Cubase
Message from the artist
I only used half of the designated time for this, so I hope you enjoy!
Theme

How does it fit the theme?
This soundtrack fits the theme as the game I based my soundtrack on is about fighting for your freedom against the axis powers.

OOOOOO YES! It's time for long-form publishing! I love it!
Luftsoldat - oppressive piano, noisy drone, guitars and SYNTHESIZERS!
Command Room - Something eerily menacing.... Is some evil villain staring at me from a leather chair while I walk through creepy dungeons? There's a lot of chains...
One Man Army - YEAH! DRUMS! SCREAMS! WAH! As a big industrial fan I'm ready to praise you for this marvelous “dirty” rhythm - beautiful!
Hikōsen no gekitsui (Airship Takedown) - Why do I imagine some pigeon singing to me... I also creepily like that “delayed” and delayed snares.... Wah!
Carri Armati e Fanteria (Tanks and Footmen) - I will never stop praising the most marvelous drums...
Endkampf (Final Front) - Just... how? HOW? How do you make such dynamic and pathos-driven tracks.... please teach me :>
Unsavory Bliss - Beautiful ending :>
Well, well, I can definitely say that your publication is one of the ones I feel close to my heart! So I enjoyed listening to every second of it, heh :>
P.S. RAWR!
Thank you :D
ough, i love the plot you came out with for your videogame concept, as someone who LOVES worldbuilding and lore in a sociopolitical lens!! ^o^ the choices you made for your instrumental palette and genres fit really well with the concept. also, detuned piano... one of my favorite things to do with piano for a composition... very nice!
i do think the mixing on "Endkampf" could be adjusted; i'm hearing some amount of clipping and distortion that makes the track a bit standoffish from the others, unfortunately
Thought id let you know that this is the final submission my teammate and i have checked, we have seen every one but yours.
And this submission fairs solidly i must say! its super gamey with the quantity of tracks - i think its important to have lots of tracks to really build the feeling of a game up!
The first track is very solid for a main menu, sets the stage well.
in the second track i love that bell lead sound (the parts of the melody where it bends is nice nice)
the third and fourth songs being based on advantages in the battle is super super super cool i must say!!! dynamic and game-y perfect! also they are both bops in their own right.
the 5th track is really nice. also gotta love more combat themes, this song does have that kinda airship feel to it.
The 6th track, i dont know why but it really really feels like a fight in a countries capital for some reason?? it has that sort of political feeling and IDK why. i might sound crazy but it feels a bit like "papers, please" in that sense but fast paced???? you did well with this for sure at the end of the day clearly.
And for the final track. amazing, love it. i love ambience. Sounds like the end.
i feel like you have a solid idea and you put it down well here in this sub overall - so cool!!!
Really like the amount of variance in tone throughout these, there's a huge range and they all work great for their respective moods. Highlight for me was the drums, they're what really made each track unique imo.
Hot damn, quite a lot of tracks here. Props for churning out so much in a 48 hour period.
Luftsoldat has some cool "infinitely descending" kind of progression. The piano helps to guide the listener through this and provide a reference point to where we are. Percussion kicking in half-way was interesting - a lot of sound design going on to provide some rather interesting textures to accompany the other instruments.
Command Room's progression reminds me of something I'd hear in classical music. Granted this tends to not apply to the stripped back, percussion-focused areas of the track, but as a whole that was a cool comparison I didn't expect to draw. Voicings here are interesting throughout; very mysterious and kind of curious. Somewhat reminiscent of something from Cult of the Lamb.
The heavy reverberation on the percussion in One Man Army is an interesting choice but it immediately stands out. Adds this kind of uncertain, blurred context to the track. When it ends up dropping out and the melodies come to the forefront, clean in the mix, it creates a rather cool contrast. Utilizing the melodies from the previous track in this one is some neat motif work.
Absolutely love the choice of patches and voicings in Airship Takedown. Can't put my finger on it, but it just captures that airship vibe so well. Loosely reminds me of something I'd hear in Flying Battery Zone or something like that. Laden with tension that never quite resolves, leading from the sky straight down to the ground.
And speaking of, Tanks and Footmen feels more appropriately "grounded" (pun.. semi-intended, lmao). Sombre vibes to this one; said tension from before hasn't resolved but has modulated into something entirely different this time around. Percussion is kept simple in this, affording other instruments opportunities to do a little more.
Final Front having a more drum-n-bass breakbeat kind of vibe is really cool. Some heavy compression going on and creating some neat movement in the stereo-field, further amplified by the panning synth arpeggios that come after it. This track very much feels like a countdown of sorts, so it makes it especially befitting of the title.
Finally, Unsavory Bliss comes as a surprise - not quite the release to all of that built up tension I was expecting. I absolutely adore the voicings and patches in this - having everything wash in and out like that really gives it a pensive edge. I could listen to this one time and time again - I love ambient stuff like this. Gradually layering over and over so that by the end there is some real ear candy washing around the place.
Kudos on getting all of this done in time - there are a lot of varied tracks here. Best of luck!
Thank you so much :D
That's a long one ! I like the well described universe even if it's heavily inspired indeed ahah. I love the variety of styles to illustrate multiple faces of this universe. Quite generous !I felt globally a lot of reverb, maybe a bit too much in my opinion ? Good job !
I also really like your artwork, feels like 2000-s arcade style. Fits your gane nicely.
Also thank you 🙏🙏🙏
It's incredible that you managed to put out this much varied music in so little time!
My favorite is one man army, you nailed the percussion on that one.
Nice work

Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
I'm really impressed with the sheer amount of music you were able to get finished in the time! It all fits really well with the situations you described, and I like how detailed your game idea is. Your composition is great and I love all the interesting instrument and sound choices throughout, however I would suggest EQing out some of the lower frequencies on all the tracks to help highlight these, as at the moment everything is a bit too bassy in my opinion. My favourite track is Unsavory Bliss, I really like the ambient alarm-sounding noises and it has a fantastic melancholy feeling to it. Great work overall!
Thanks 😁

I really loved all the different musical ideas that you have in here. If I were to recommend one thing its the very copy and paste feel that you create, each time you remove something and bring you could feel the copy and paste. to get around this do thing more to vary those elements each time they come back in (something that isn't changing what instrument is playing the idea, there so much you can do with small musical ideas. Other than that I really love the atmosphere you created with your tracks, Good work :)
Thank you for the tip!
Really nice work!! I enjoyed the sound choices, i enjoyed how everything worked together real well!
Maybe some work with dynamic and volume to add some variety?
Bravo!
Ok thanks!
Good job. This soundtrack keeps you engaged throughout the entire thing. Also very impressive that you got all of that done in so little time.
Thanks :)
Cool soundtrack !
You really have a nice unity of ambience through all the tracks, wich makes them feel very connected.
I think the quality of it is also very good, the sound and mixing is loud in a very good way imo, packs a lot of energy.
My favorite is End Kampf, very epic and it would fit perfectly a final fight :D
Great job, especially in so little time !
Thank you :D
I remember fondly your work on Simulate OST which was one of my favorites in the OST Jam #07 (I had followed you on soundcloud at that time). Unsavory Bliss is trippy as hell but the rest of the OST is super solid, no idea how you came up with so much in such little time. Great job! And Luftsoldat is just a great piece of music, let alone a jam submission!
Thank you! Glad you liked it :D
The slides in Command room were super funky and I liked them a lot!
One man army felt very chaotic which fits the description you gave of the game as it is literally a war. The addition of Command room elements makes it feel like you are enacting plans made earlier which is really neat!
If there's one thing I wish you had added was something in the composition itself to indicate the theme. Something like an instrument acting as a representation of freedom and you explaining that would make the soundtrack as a whole even more cohesive and thematic.
Thanks!
Loved the harmonic progression of Luftsoldat. The sample that comes in halfway through seems disconnected from the flowy tempo changes of the piano, which distracted me a little.
I can see myself strategizing with Command Room. Weirdly reminds me of the Breaking Bad soundtrack haha. I think some more low-end would be great here.
I like that you kept the theme from Command Room into One Man Army. The added energy is nice! And having Carri Armati e Fanteria be more foreboding helps it fit with the "enemy is winning" theme.
I liked the siren-esque sound at the beginning of Hikōsen no gekitsui, I think some more movement with the melody would bring even more energy.
Endkampf is great because it has the awesome main theme progression. Great energy, but like the track before, some more movement in the melody would be nice here as well.
I think Unsavory Bliss is a great track for the end of the game. It has a real "you won, but at what cost?" feeling to it.
Good job!
Thank you :D
