I really enjoyed what I played but I sadly wasn't able to get very far. The first door hacking experience was awesome, I really enjoyed the Mastermind minigame. Excellent idea! When I see lockpicking minigames I usually don't like them much but this was pretty great.
Unfortunately the door at the end of the hallway didn't let me do the minigame properly. It let me type it something like 7 entries despite it was only supposed to have 3 and I couldn't proceed or do anything other than Escape. I started a new game and the same thing happened, I was only able to do one door lock puzzle, but I did the important door first so I was able to proceed. I made it outside and wow, that was a cool surprise. It was awesome being able to do that.
Overall a fun entry. Game Jams always have bugs, that's the way of things, but this one is very complete and the premise is really compelling and the ideas were very good. I enjoyed it a lot, good entry.
I admit I didn't finish this game, but aside from the bugs I enjoyed what I played.
I like the low poly visuals, and the UI was very well put together. And I like the overall concept of getting your ship up and running on a hostile planet.
The scripted scare at the beginning was neat, and I love how the lights turn on one at a time with a big heavy clunk switch sound.
The minigame I didn't totally get at first, but after playing it for a couple minutes I started to understand it. Though unfortunately it seemed to break after I left the ship and came back. Coming back to the ship also broke the first jump scare sequence.
The combat wasn't amazing but it worked, though the cursor detection on the bigger alien bodies could be a bit off. I was also surprised how far away I could interact with corpses from, but frankly I prefer that to having to be right up close to them.
It is unfortunate you weren't able to finish this game the way you wanted to, but I feel like the biggest issues are bugs and lack of polish rather than the core of the game being broken. So it could be far, far worse.
Good work!
As soon as I read "Mastermind" kind of mini game I wanted to play this!
Played Mastermind a lot when I was a kid and still have the game. Sadly my family does not like the game all that much. I wonder why...
Anyway great use of the Synty Pack! Great overall vibe, combat is a bit of a lack luster but it is fine for a jam game.
I read that you are not all that proud of this entry but despite it's flaws I enjoyed it very much!
Are you going to update it post jam? You could add some more Mastermind lock picking on some of the treasure caches, would love that.
Certainly exceeds my expectations for a 9 day jam game.
Great entry! I did get to the end even after encountering some bugs. Awesome movement, atmosphere and graphics were great and the combat, while simple was amusing and didn't overstay it's welcome. The variety of enemies were cool too and the story/twist was good.
The codebreaking minigame was clever, but unfortunately seemed to break after the first puzzle even with a save/reload. If you completed the puzzle on a certain door in the first hallway, I believe you got stuck without a way to proceed. This would also prevent you from getting into the cockpit, but seemingly you could clip through the wall in the lab room so you didn't have to crack it. I think the ambient sound would end randomly as well, but some more environmental sounds/ambience could go a long way.
Overall, good entry. With some bug squashing it could go from good to great IMO.
Gameplay here
I didn’t get to play all the way through in this session, I encountered the mini-game bug and itch didn’t want to restart the game afterwards. Hopefully, I’ll have a save to continue from next time I have to play some entries. So these are just my impressions from the first part of the game: I like what I see!
The style, setting, and everything feels very nice! Or maybe nice is the wrong word, but those aliens are kind of cute!
I liked the hacking game too even if it ended my playthrough and I was a bit too dumb, or lets call it tired, to work on it rationally.
I encountered some more bugs and minor glitches which should be clear in the video.
The fighting took a little while to fully understand, but it was nice once I worked out the rules, and lenient enough that it didn’t matter much that I was fumbling a bit in the beginning. Which is very good balance. The first alien that scurried away in the dark got me thinking it would be more of a horror experience in the combat, but I like it this more casual style too. It would have been nice with a couple environmental sounds and possibly background music, at least in the base.
But again, I like what I’ve seen so far, and I’m hoping I get to complete it.

I got to the end! I really like the style and if it weren’t for the bugs it would have been a really smooth experience. Most of all I fancy the visuals, I think. I think the game got a bit on the silent side and I would have liked more effects and atmospheric noise to go with the cool visual stuff.
Very good entry.

The game atmosphere and art so good, they best parts of the game. The lighting helped a lot and the combat system was simple but good. The puzzles were good to do too and I like the aliens in the game.
Had a major problem however, the game seemed to just break at one point such as being able to walk though some doors and walls, the alien at the start was stuck in animation and the door puzzles stopped working as I could enter much code then what was needed. I tired to reload it but that did not fix it.
Beside that bug, I would say game is a great jam game, i can see you put a lot work into this and was good playing it
The atmosphere and graphics are fantastic! I love how the lights switch on, it really sets the mood. It sure lack a bit of polish here or there, but it was perfectly playable (I needed to reload the game a few times, but never got really stuck). The combat system is simple and intuitive, and there were enough medpacks lying around so it wasn't too hard, which is great for a jam game. I was absorbed by your game and would have played for much longer.
A fantastic little entry! I really enjoyed this one. Great models, great sounds, great controls.
I did run into s glitch with the mastermind game but saving, exiting, and reloading resolved the issue.

I enjoyed this one a lot. Nice graphics and most importantly; consistent graphics. Sure, there were some bugs, but all could be worked around so no biggie. I like that that you go from inside ship to outside environment. Controls and movement is spot on and +1 for numpad controls.
Perfect difficulty level which allowed steady progress. The hacking/Mastermind mechanism was fun. I always enjoy a little brain exercise.
It would've been nice if the key for closing dialog was nearer to the movement controls. Perhaps tapping forward again closes dialog, or for numpad the enter key closes.
Neat game! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the games from the Dungeon Crawler Jam.
I really like the look of this one, was that mostly original art? If so, well done! If not, nice job putting it together anyway =).
The hacking minigame broke on me. On my first game it started giving nonsense results (actual answer was 3 purple, but with 1 purple, 1 cyan, 1 green, it said "1 correct, 1 in wrong place"), and then it totally broke - next one I could only enter 1 color on the first turn, and then on each game after that I could just keep on entering colors (would say "8/3"). After a complete exit and reload it mostly behaved though, at least enough to progress.
I found the difficulty a bit too hard, at some point there were 3 stalkers in front of me in various directions, I was all out of medkits, and not sure what to do. Turns out if I just slammed the "forward" key I'd attack them multiple times before they get a turn, which really seemed like a bug (it was supposed to be turn-based, right?), but I was happy it let me advance, and eventually escape the planet with the relic =).
Thanks for playing and I'm sad the minigame broke on me. Well, I broke it, not the other way around heh.
That you get multiple attacks is intended. The system is turn-based in the sense that so long as your character has balance to act, there's no rush. But you and the mobs have different balance timers, so it's possible to regain balance multiple times before they do.
Graphics are from an asset pack, but I made the levels myself
It is an amazing entry. The story line and gameplay was cool. Controls were decent. The graphics were nice. I have made an gameplay video for this as whileplaying puzzle were stuck or gates were stuck or a enemy bug was jsut stuck which might help you to improve more. Otherwise a top quality work.
Thank you for playing and putting together a video, wow! I appreciate it. Yeah, my stupid codebreaker minigame is buggy :(
no problem, testing is a challenge. You can keep testing while development or ask someone to play as bugs escape while dev. But you added a lot of extra features like video audio setting save load system. Also good AI path like legend of grimlock. I wanted to know how you select item through mouse and inventory.
Awww man everyone's entries really make me wish I spent more time on my ui...
Great job! Are you going to have a post jam bug fix update for it?
I will have a mini update just to fix the buggy hacking game. Other than that, I will leave the game as is, for it fulfills its purpose. Thank you so much for playing!
Yeah the graphics looks great and the core idea of the game is also very good.
However, there are so many bugs in the game and stuff that makes it a bit unplayable. Maybe another week on this to fix those issues and you got yourself a great game.
Several walls have no colliders and you can just walk through them.
Upon dying and reloading a save state things break totally. Health pack did seem to heal any.
You should add on your instruction page that ESC is also used to close some UI stuff, took me a while to figure out.
Still a great game entry to the jam!
Thank you very much for playing!
And for pointing out all the bugs. I'll make a quick post-jam update on it.
I liked the idea of taking the car to explore the planet, which I wasn't expecting.
Unfortunately, I didn't manage to finish the game because of the door opening mini-game bug. I tried several save/load and OOB glitches, but stayed stuck.
I'm sorry about the buggy minigame, but thank you for playing!
This is cool, but I'm having trouble with the door glitches. I'm not interested in brute forcing 1024 possibilities on the 0/5 door. I like the puzzle, but wish it was more stable. The art styles clash a little. I think for the UI sprites, you probably want to model the item with the same low poly as the world, then make an image from that. I like the theme incorporation. The alien environment is great - I can see a lot of modelling went into that with various background items. Very cool stuff, wish the bugs let me finish it.
Thank you for playing, I appreciate it. Yeah, my minigame was both a clear case of obvious bugs that made it through AND "it's not as obvious for the player as it is for me". Lessons learned though.
I ran into a bug where when I put the core into the machine near the end of the game I guess I pressed a movement key at the same time the first time and it took the core but didn't put it in the machine. Similarly during this area the puzzle sequences were offered in a few areas and it broke in that I could keep entering keys and it would just keep allowing more entries. However, the fact that you incorporated a save system made it no big deal, I was just able to load my save game and complete the game. Great job.
Thanks a lot for playing and I'm sorry about the buggy experience :( Lessons learned though.
This was a lot of fun!
The movement is smooth yet snappy.
Combats good, and has some depth with the dodging and spatial awareness.
I liked the lock-picking mini-game, even if I was easily bamboozled by it.
And the twist was great.
Towards the end I had some weird glitches.
When I re-entered the ship, I spawned in the starting room and couldn't open the door even with the key.
I used some save manipulation to try again, and got back on the ship, but I could walk through most doors, except the lock-pick ones, which accepted an infinite amount of inputs without resolving.
EDIT: Just realized the recording cut off half way. I'll upload the second half tomorrow. Sorry for the audio desynced,
I struggled a lot on the third puzzle because the blue square with the 1/5 made me think it had to start with a blue square. That's my excuse anyway.
Thanks a lot for playing and for the videos. Yeah, my minigame DEFINITELY should have been tested more, but I seem to be terrible at it!
Thanks to Evgeni's comment I left the planet, loved the chicken ate the relic twist. After bruteforcing through most doors by various ways (going through walls and/or saving and reloading which sometimes allow to go through a door or allow the puzzle to work again) the game was very fun play, with a catchy plot, perfect movement inside great looking environments and satisfying gunplay and rise in power via levels and equipment, eventually ridiculing the aliens which were previously a threat.
I really appreciate you playing it and finishing it! I'm sad about the bugs myself, but hey...happens in jams.
I was able to finish your game) There are some troubles I encountered. Puzzle do not work properly, It shows that it would be only 3 colors but it doen't reset color up to 8. But... You can walk through the wall and some doors to the bridge through the door and through the wall with near engine. Gun should be pointed to the low point of the creatures to shoot. Overall this is a funny game I was positively surprised that there is a outside location on a planet. Art is consistent, maybe portrait is too realistic for the setting.
Thank you very much for playing and for the bug hunting :D
