What a stunning graphics. It took me back in time to games like The Neverhood. How did you create this unique style?
Besides the visuals, the game is atmospheric and engaging from the first seconds of gameplay. I wish there was more puzzles to solve, but for a week-long game jam it's a truly impressive entry.
Thank you for playing our game haha! The game only consists of pictures of 3D models pretty much, the style is achieved by using a realistic lighting engine (Blender with cycles) as well as normal mapped textures : https://ambientcg.com/.
Anyone can do it with some Blender knowledge! I suggest trying it out.
Well that took me back in my Myst days ! Excellently made: strange machinery with good atmospheric sound, a sweet puzzle to solve with a "aaaaah of course" moment, and a personal touch that makes it unique. Only wish there was more, I'm so addicted to this kind of games ^^ Maybe I would have add a bit more ambiance musics, but that's also part of the style. Controls are smooth, no laggy animations, the aesthetics are great.
Anyway, I'm impressed and happy to see this kind of games can be made with Godot up to a high quality standard, I wonder if the resolution can be push a little though. Great work !
Thank you so much for your review. We rendered the images in the same resolution as Riven (The sequel to myst) 608x392. We did this because we needed to push the web-build to be under 200MB in size to be able to upload. The animations consisted of over 1500 pictures in total. Godot can definetly handle higher resolution images but they take up too much storage and they take longer to render out.
This really brings me back to those classic Myst or Riven games! excellent job pulling it off!
I'm sure I'm missing something, but it was just a good solid experience!
This is beyond excellent. The art and environments are excellent and really give off old school vibes. Like your titlecard, that brought me back to playing RPGs on PSX. Myst games used to freak me out as a kid and this one gave me similar vibes. It was spooky at points, especially when I saw I wasn't alone (or am I? Where did they go?!). Unlocking the three good boys at the end was the cherry on top. Lovely.
Absolutely fantastic job by this team, one of the best in the jam!!!
very cool - brought me back to playing myst as a kid. Great entry!
Fantastic entry. I'm a huge fan of Myst and similar games and this one was so satisfying to dig through and solve. Also the shock value of opening each door. I may or may not have also met another friend along the way. But yeah, overall had a blast with this one.
really cool game! any hints for someone who got stuck in the first two extra rooms?
man i love the 3D look of this game, you dont understand how my heart feels.
Loved this game! I don't even know where to begin. You really hit the nail on the head with the theme. Funny and eerie is hard to put together but you managed to ace it. Loved being in this world and would love to see more of it!
Great job!
I love this game, the classic point and click pre-rendered style is so good, the game was very fun and funny. I love the crazy dog. This is phenomenal!
That was awesome, great work!! I saw a lil alien at da start, what he doing there!!
Wow! Just wow! I am so impressed, this is so unhinged in the best way. Powerful nostalgia trigger for older fellas like me. I loved the prerendered art, it reminded me of Myst and even more so those machinery heavy games that were inspired by it like RHEM. The animations were also super good, sound design also very spot on. I am in awe, crazy production value for a game jam! Congrats!
Ok so a few things:
- First of all: Absolutely insane.
- Secondly:
- Thirdly: I could have sworn I saw something weird in the center (first) room but I switched views too quick, and when I looked again it wasn't there. Was it just my imagination?
God this game is perfect. The pre-rendered exploration and the general vibe of the main puzzle is so on-point for how games like Myst were. Having a bunch of extra nonsense I can mess with like other junk parts, or the grammophone was a good idea because I absolutely want to be clicking on everything in this kind of game too.
Hot damn this game looks amazing. Really cool animations, and the point and click gameplay works really well.
