Great job getting the core framework in and executing a nice little game!
I can now add "successfully ran evil organization and killed the king" to my resume. This was a fun little game! I like how chill it was to send out my minions, sit back and reap the rewards. I really like giving the minions a name before sending them out. Shout out to Mark the Orc who really was the MVP of the midgame. The art was awesome and I loved the a capella sound effects. Well done!
Very nice submission. Really liked the mechanic of building up your minions and sending them out on missions - I mean expeditions. The layout worked well and the sounds fit nicely. Wishlist: having a message system that informed you on the side/top when you expeditions were complete and the minions were rested.
It would have been even better if there was a little more of a ramp up for the expeditions difficulty, but overall it was a lot of fun, Thanks for submitting.
thanks for the nice words.
yes we realized the balancing is all over the place. we had plans to unlock the new mission types, after some time, but didnt get to implement it
I enjoyed your interpretation of the theme. Haven't played a lot of these types of games but I liked the way you handled the menus.
Thanks a lot! It was also a lot of work and new things to learn handling the UI-heavy stuff in Godot. But it was worth it!
I had to force myself to stop playing your game to try the next ones, it's simply addictive!
Eventually, I had an army of ogres with double axes, full plates, and diamond rings. If there were more ways to upgrade, I would definitely keep playing!
Being nitpicky, I felt that the game lacked a bit of challenge; at no point did I feel afraid for my minions, since it was easy to do the missions with 100% success.
That said, I loved it. Congrats on the game! If you make an update in the future, let me know!
Thank you very much for the kind words. We are really happy that you loved it. Who knows, maybe an update will come :-)
There's a lot to this! Really nice artwork, a very decent little passively idle game. Having to give yer minions names before purchasing is a nice little touch too! Because Gerblin the Goblin was absolutely hopeless at killing farmers, i know exactly who to blame!
Good job!
Edit: Also the sound effect for adding a goblin to the expedition is top tier
thanks for the nice words.
the goblin sound effect always makes me smile.
Really similar concept to my game but totally different take on it. It was a fun game and I liked it :D
Great game! Loved being able to name your minions to make them more personal and gearing them up. Maybe to spice things up there could be a little icon/progress bar to show the minion fighting, then the result? Or some variation to the quests as they get a little grindy after a while. Love the book UI as well, very fantasy themed! :3
Thanks for the feedback. Maybe in the future we can implement some improvements, thanks for the ideas!
Oh this was a treat. I think that a bit of time pressure would have done this well, but admittedly, I like my games really nail biting, haha. But I rather enjoyed figuring out the systems and maximizing my minion's gear. This was a great project and your team should be proud!
Yep, this was more on the chill side :-). It was our first UI-heavy and Pixel-Art project, so we are really happy that you enjoyed it.
That was a fun experience. Loved the idea of sending several expeditions to maximize profit - It gives an interesting choice of making more profit faster at the risk of losing an encounter. Congratulations.
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked it!
This was fun. The UI took a bit to figure out, but once we did it was straight forward enough. We did run into an issue where we could not change the armor on our first recruit. It kept wanting to change the armor for the unit above it. The weapon changed fine and the other units were fine. Even after another mission the issue remained. It wasn't a big deal being our first goblin.
thanks for playing! yes the UI still has room to improve. first project where we used this much UI interaction. sorry you ran into a bug, im sure there are more to find xD
The art is awesome, and the little animations really make it feel alive, though I can imagine it was a lot of work. The game-play is pretty fun. The music definitely lacking, though I like the ogre's sound. The main problem was that the UI was not super intuitive. I wasn't obvious what I could click on, and what I needed to click on, or why I couldn't afford the items. I don't know how to help you with that, other than to add more contrast to the buttons. Eventually I figured it out though and killed the king!
Thanks for the kind words and the feedback! And congrats on defeating the king!
This is a super fun concept. I love this. I could see you building it out even further. The art is very charming as well. Although some of the UI was a bit hard for me to understand, Like assigning loot and assigning minions to expeditions
If I didn't have more games to play and rate, I would have spent a lot more time playing this game. I loved it. I'll definitely be coming back to play this some more.
Fun! I don't know why, but it's very charming that you have to name a minion before you can recruit them.
It would be nice to see some likelihood of success. I never failed a mission. Was I overprepared?
For some reason, none of the missions had a > 0% chance of success for my poor goblin Hank, even when he had bought himself a fancy dagger and ring at the shops. I like the theming and the art!
are you sure you added your minion to the expedition after opening it? there is an arrow button next to the minion
The best laid UI never survives contact with the user
Giving it another go!
our first game with this much UI stuff. we learned a lot and there is still much to improve^^
I enjoyed it! It was a good flow of information to keep me engaged, and I loved that I could name my baddies. If you were to keep working on it after the jam, I’d say putting a cap on the chance of a sucesful expedition might be a good place to start. I found myself only going for certain victory because I’m one of those “optimize the fun out of the game” types.
Great work!
