Spoiler Alert!
Probably the entry I’ve spent the most time on, and I still didn’t think I got all the secrets. It’s really fun, (probably gonna be the best feat of coding I think). The plot is told in fragments gain by solving puzzles, though for some scenes, I wasn’t sure of it’s purpose (like the Alzheimer’s grandma scene at the start). The secret name was a chore to find, but the reward wasn’t rewarding enough (though good end is cool). It ties most plot points together (literally just the MC telling the entire story) but that’s fine I suppose. Oh and also I think that’s too much of an emphasis on drinking scenes? Maybe those flashbacks could’ve been used for something else.
Presentation is cool, spending like 30 mins to get familiar with the controls isn’t (not me crying to myself when I realized there’s more than 1 maze in the game 💀💀). I really like the music though, it’s very giving that adventure game vibe (I find it really funny when the music is chill-ish and there’s just a very obviously car crash shaped puzzle in the background). The sprites are really pretty and expressive, especially the birbs.
If the ending didn’t just flat out says the jam theme, I might’ve had a harder time interpreting what it means in this story. Aside from the hint being that, each character gives an ending relating to the theme. If I remember correctly ‘Azael’ gave the light themed ending while the wolf has the dark themed ending. And ofc, true ending has a bit of both. Funnily enough, both normal endings meant you losing a part of yourself. My guess is ‘No one is perfect, we all have our lights and darks and only with both would we be whole.’ would be some type of philosophical-ish meaning for the game.
P.S I got 6 words and brute force the rest 😬😬 Thank god bro has a normal name. The hint you gave from Discord really helped <3
