Very good game and concept!

I loved this, it’s such a cool take on theme, definitely would give 6 stars for theme if I could. I also love gamepad support (though had to use a mouse to back out of the settings menu).

That face is so good, really sold the nightmare. The end boss was neat but also a little weird, I often was just standing on it taking a ride, but jumping on it worked well enough. The one thing I’d change is a non-parallax background. There were times my brain had trouble making sense of the world since so much is obscured; a background would give a fixed reference point. I also loved all the one-way platforms, I don’t know exactly why but it just felt fun.

Developer

Thank you! I'm sorry the gamepad didn't work entirely. Thanks for the feedback, it really helps me grow. :)

Simple but really creative take on the theme that also helps give the game a neat aesthetic.

This game was fun.  The shadows were a cool effect and gave more depth to the levels.

Great work with whole design of it, it definitely had a nice spooky atmosphere, and I really enjoyed the shadow effect!

Thank you so much!

Really good use of shadows in this, took some getting used to but was quite enjoyable when I finally got a hang of it

This was super fun! Great idea with the shadow platforming, that was swell! Good work :)

Good idea, and nice use of shadows.

The music is good and contributes nicely to the overall mood.

Amazing! It was fun to fight all the enemies and the platforming was challenging! I appreciate that you made a setting for easy mode cause it made the game less frustrating. The music and the expression of Lumi’s eyes really gave the vibe of being stuck in a nightmare! Great job making so many levels in just a week :)

Very fun and enjoyable game! I love the pixel art and creative use of the platform shadow mechanic. The boss at the end was really cool, but I'd love to see more attack variation from it.

Developer

Thank you so much! Yeah, the boss could use some variation, but I am still really new and figured the one attack was a reasonable thing for me to pull off with the time limit. Maybe after judging I will go add some more.

Aww such cute main character this game has :3 I played only up to 3rd level, I hope it gets to a better place at the end :D
Nice game, I loved the choice of sounds and music. Also, beating ghosts by repeatedly jumping on top of their head is pretty funny :D
Thanks for the game!

Thank you! Don't worry, you do wake Lumi from his nightmare if you make it through the 10 levels ;)

nice lighting got to hard for me though

Developer(+1)

I'm sorry it got too hard. I don't have play testers so it was just me and I was worried that my judgement of difficulty was skewed :(

rating 6 out of 5... (sadly it only goes up to 5) I like how the platforms cast shadows

Great esthetics on this game, it's simple but elegant and well executed! The music gives a good atmosphere and I really liked the evil laugh that plays when you get hit by the big guy 😄

It's a very cool take on the theme too! Having your health represented as your source of light is a nice touch as well.

And it was nice to see the effort that was put into the accessibility settings! I did have a small issue in the main menu though, where pressing up on the keyboard would also act like pressing the highlighted button.

As a small nitpick, I think easy mode might be better suited to be the default mode, with hard mode being there for players that really got into the game.

Great job!

Developer

Thank you so much. I went back to look at the code to find out why the main menu was behaving that way - I used a "jump" input to mark a click and forgot that I had also set the up arrow to function as a jump... I'll have to fix that after the voting. Thanks for finding it and letting me know. And I agree default should have been to the easy mode and have an option for hard. I just implemented that too late in the process to risk swapping it. :)

Oh, I love the use of light and sound. Very evocative, especially that laugh, I love a good evil laugh.

I'm pretty bad at platform games, so I was very appreciative of an Easy setting in the options menu. Sadly I didn't make it far past the acid level.

Nicely done!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! I was worried that I started to ramp up the difficulty too much when I added the acid/goo. If I continue work on it later I will have to adjust it.

Oh, I certainly shouldn't be anyone's litmus test for platformer difficulty... the last time I was any good at them was around '96 with Mario 64. :)
