From what I see, I would say you figured it out quite well. The only problem was, you did not notice the newly available building in mission 2. It would probably have helped you quite a bit, though you basically had the mission in the bag on your second and third attempts regardless.
I don’t know if you missed the mission objective for the new building, or just couldn’t figure it out because the tooltip was mismatched, I will try to improve clarity in both regards.
